Practice Update: T.O. Has Tight Back

A few quick shots from the dome:

-Terrell Owens did not practice Sunday because of a tight back. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who has returned from Michael Irvin's Hall of Fame induction, said Owens' back issues weren't serious. Rather than stand on the sideline, Jones said Owens was receiving treatment and trying to stay loose.

-Kickers Martin Gramatica and Nick Folk continued their strong training camp performances by booting all four of their field goal attempts, with a long of 39 yards.

We'll have a complete notes package later tonight.

The kicking game is looking up and I hope it will continue into the season. As for Terrell, I hope it is nothing serious, because we will certainly need him to stretch the field this season.

I know it's very early, but I'd be lying if I said the rash of injuries didn't bother me. I'm not too concerned about T.O., but it sure would be nice to have Greg Ellis and Terry Glenn back on the field soon.

You know i Think its ok that there taking it  a little easy with T.O.. I Mean a least we didn't hear about any major hamstring injury<haha>. But also This may be also a problem since he is not on the field that much. Lets just hope if anything does happen, we can count on the younger receivers or were doomed.

Howdy everyone! First time logging in, but I read the blogs daily.

Just thought I'd give my two cents real quick. I made a road trip down to San Antonio over the weekend and went to both practices on Saturday, and I've gotta say our kicking game is looking up! I didn't see one missed kick, and they weren't little chip shots either, they were kicking back behind the 35, even 45 from what I could tell. Didn't have the best seat to view the kicking, but I was definitely impressed! Anyone else make it out over the weekend??

Whats up joeshm0. I am in the same boat. This will be my second blog entry. I wish I lived closer to see the training camp. But, the things I have been raeding, so far, look promising for the Boys. I can't wait for the games to start!

A long of 39 I wanna see some 50 yarders before I can say the kicking looks good, and Kickoffs that go into the endzone on a regular basis.  TO will be fine I am sure he works hard so a tight back is nothing to worry about

During the regular season, T.O. will never miss time unless he is hurt bad.  But during the pre season, he  takes a lot of time off.

I dont blame him for taking care of himself.  He is a big time play maker.

Hey Big Dog

If you read the website the other day you would have read that Folk has not missed yet in camp and that he is hitting his kickoffs to the goaline.  Also, Grammatica has only missed once.  I think the blog's statement of the kicking game looking good is qualified.

I agree Stan T.O. will be ready when the season starts. I hope we keep both kickers I know they said Folk has been doing great but I have a soft spot for Grammatica already , He was such a breath of fresh air after Vanderwhosit.

STAN i can agree with you on TO... as long as he learns the plays, he'll be a-ok. i hear alot about j. garrett moving him around and letting him get involved in the whole offense, so that sounds very encouraging.

TO...do whatever u need to do... you stay healthy, we do a lot better. The 'Boys have a real chance to push farther this year. Let's all hope these injuries stay minor because if we have the same type of year injury-wise as last year(except for Ellis's unfortunate injury), we'll do some damage. Go 'Boys! :)

With all these little injuries building up without any legit hitting, makes me wonder if getting lighter for this season is going to help with the stamina to last the whole season

With all the little injuries that are being reported, I don't know if we are having more injuries this year because of harder practices or if the injuries last year were not reported.

Good question dumbokie.  With how Parcells was, I wouldn't rule out these guys may have had nagging problems last season but wouldn't speak about them.

Hopefully these injuries or minor problems are not serious.

I laughed to myself when reading the article talking about Flozell Adams, who considers himself a top 5 tackle...he's about the only one who thinks that..He had one good year (his contract year), all other years we've been waiting for him to play up to his potential..I say good ridance after this year..I'd rather spend one of next years 1st round picks on a tackle than bringing this stiff back with a bigger contract.

I don't know why we care about TO if we have Romo the Pretender throwing to him. Not sure how TO does good if Romo is so bad Tex? Or are you thinking Brad Johnson takes over for Romo?

Well I had to ask that question Tex. Romo the Pretender Hahahahaha. That is so funny.

mr. phillips, i hope you don't mind me adding another tidbit from training camp found somewhere in the blogesphere:

Wade Phillips Is Meaner Than He Looks

Wade Phillips, perhaps unfairly, has been slapped with the "player's coach" label. Part of it has to do with his seemingly laid-back sideline demeanor, and, I'm sure, his physical resemblance to Santa Claus sans beard. Well, Bill Parcells may no longer be in Dallas, but that doesn't mean the Cowboys' preseason has gone from boot camp to band camp. In fact, far from it.

Phillips on Saturday publicly berated the Dallas Cowboys for the first time at training camp. The scolding, which included profanity and a passionate speech about personal accountability, came after several players arrived late for special-teams drills at the start of the afternoon workout.

But it gets better: After practice, Phillips made the perps stand in front of the team and explain what the hell happened. One of the offenders, rookie fullback Deon Anderson, offered this: "I didn't realize when practices were starting, and coaches were flipping out," Anderson said. "I'm like, '(expletive).' Now coach is pissed off at the whole team because of what I did."

According to The San Antonio Express-News' Tom Orsborn, Anderson thought Phillips was going to hit him before taking "a step back" to "regroup." Son of Bum then added: "This stuff can't happen. You guys have to be accountable for your actions."

Who knows if Phillips was clarifying any confusion on just what kind of a bad ass he is, or just legitimately upset with a few knuckleheads. Whatever, I think everybody's on the same page now.

(like my pops used to say: never take my kindness for weakness...)

Wow someone else thinking the same thing I have been for the last few years.

Seemed like Romo was under fire from his side ALOT last year.

TO and the entire WR's should be on the field..light or otherwise training...we have

a goal and thats the SB and that is good enough reason for our top of the crop to be on the field one-or-two-a-day pratices ..it's the bread and butter of the core on offense including the other members of the offense..so-be-it lets work thru those delays..and not delay our getting to know the offense schemes. If we delay due to the light injurys, slowing down our goals is not what we want.  Football life is not painless..pratices or game day.. So my opinion everyone is on the field doing what every it takes.

T.O. is 33 years old.  He cannot be expected to practice as intensely as the younger guys.  However, he has a lot to prove this year to the team and to himself.  I am still looking for that fired-up playmaker.

I like seeing the soft practices, im glad that they are taking it as easy as they are. every player on the field is a professional, they will be ready to go when the season starts, everyone is in great shape. parcells showed everybody what old school training camp will do for your team. we will be able to finish this season strong. 16 games is long enough why make it any longer by practicing so hard in camp. like wade said he has seen softer practices in buffalo under marv levy and marv took the bills to 4 straight super bowls. so i have all the faith in the world we will be there come january.

Ok Note to All haters of T.O ...... Its a new season.... Lets help kill the old and bring in the new light. T.O is needed on this team and I think that he is very happy with the coach change and team movements during the off season. We have to all as true Cowboy fans take him in and encourge the the team on. I am a looking forward to a great season. T.O has been working really hard in the off season and I do not mind him missing a few pre-seasons games. He is still one of the most powerful WR in the leauge and guess what? He has a star on his chest now. Lets go boys.... Bring it home!
