Glenn Out For Giants Game

Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn will not play in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Giants, Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips confirmed in his Friday press conference.

Phillips said the team is still gathering information on Glenn's knee injury, which occurred Wednesday in Glenn's first practice since having arthroscopic knee surgery Aug. 1. He said the veteran receiver's status is unclear beyond Sunday.

Phillips said Glenn's injury is a new one, not related to his previous one.

Despite the fact that Glenn is our best WR (yes, better than Owens,) the wide receiver position is possibly the only position I'm not worried about. Owens, Austin, Hurd, Crayton, Stanback, Witten and Fasano help cover the gap (Witten and Fasano being included as "receivers" by this definition.)

By the way, is Stanback figuring to play much of any kind of role in this Giants game?

Red Ace???  I would have to disagree about Glenn being our best WR.  Owens has that on lock, hands down.  He had a near record season in one of his worst outtings last season.

I will agree on that we do have some capable yungens that will fill his shoes.  Hurd has a chance to show what he's really got.  Stanback will be a starter sometime on this offense.  Austin can make some plays.  Patrick "rubber cement" Crayton will be more than a factor.  I'm going out on a limb with this one -- Witten is BETTER than Novacek was.  Romo will find him.

Defensively, its gonna be a ball game.  Reeves has learned alot over the past couple seasons.  Spencer has the body - does he have the mind to be the beast at OLB.  Hopefully, him and Carp combined can do what Ellis does - create pressure and stop the run.

Its finally football time baby.  Did y'all see the Colts vs the Aints??? It IS football season, finally.  Come on Cowboys.

Unfortunately, I believe this is it for Terry Glenn.  They are saying 2 weeks, but at his age, this could be the end.  I would be pleasantly surprised if he actually does return at all.  This does present a good opportunity for the young guys.  I hope Sam Hurd is ready!

Hello Boys & Girls

Well it seems Terry will be out 4 / 2 weeks ( AT LEAST )

That sucks in 2 ways. 1. I have Terry on 2 of my Fantacy teams.

                               2. We do ( The Dallas Cowboys ) do need him.

Sure we can get by w/out him. But The NY Yankees and get by w/out A-Rod.

As a matter of fact, If The Yankees got by this season w.out him. They'ed be

looking about 10, maybe 15 games down from where they are. Truth be told

The Dallas Cowboys ( and my fantacy teams need him ) Dont get me wrong.

As long as the Giants hv Coughlin on the side lines, with that stupid look on

his face. & Eli under center,  passing to people as tall as Shaq. The only

thing ANY 1 on the other team as 2 worry about is " I wonder if the hot

dog guy will get close enough, so I can order 1 or 2?" The Giants will win

a few games, & even Wade-ing 4 Dinner cant mess up a sure Cowboys

victory against the Giants.

Here's wishing Terry a SPEEEEEDY Recovery.

I really wouldn't be too concern about T.G. being out for this next game. The best thing for us is that he has been out all pre-season so I am certain that Romo has developed some chemistry with Crayton. He may not have the speed of Terry, but he is savy and knows how to get open. (ala Keyshawn). He also has great hands. Don't be suprise if Jones pursues Reche Caldwell. He has experience and Wade is very familiar with him from San Diego. The one thing about Caldwell playing with Brady and the Pats, he definitely is disciplined and can run decent routes. We'll be fine for the upcoming game and the future.

I dont think TGlenn plays at all this year.....thats just my gut feeling.....and I would not look for Ellis at all in the first half of the season....either way both guys are gone at the end of the year so its good to have them out now so we can see what we have.....I think both of their replacements are on the squad now!!

I hope you are right about # 57, but the evidence is mounting....

Mantooth,

legitimately, we should not suffer without Glenn...

doubling up T.O. should give someone else an opening....

backups have to step up or they should be booted out!

we will win this one

It's time for Stanback to stand up or sit down?..........He is a rookie. He missed a good deal of rpe season. Give me a break!

Scroing first would be nice, but one score does not put an opposing team in to "hurry up".

Let alone decide the game.

Oh yeah, Carp is a bust. At which position? Let him play one spot for a while.

It'sd amzing the number of doctors and talent evaluaters in here. If you are so good at it why are you blogging about ti instead of doing it for a living.

Yeah, let's have Madden video games decide who stats....good grief...

And when we are discussing racism....it cuts both ways......whites are discrimnated against too.by blacks.and ebcause of the assinine affirmative action........

People are rushing to defend Vick and his dog antics..if he was white they wouldn't do it...no stupid talk show hosts and fellow players..

I just read on ESPN that Glenn was told by the Cowboy Doctors that his knee couldn't get any worse if he were to practice on it and that there was no chance for injuring the knee any more.  Well, he has torn ligaments in his knee now and he siad that that the injuries are related which contradicts what Phillips said earlier that the injuries are not related.  I think the Cowboys handled this terribly and probablyh hurried Glenn back to fast.  Now we have argueably two of our best players out with Glenn and Newman.  This will cost us some games in the early part of the season which I believe will cause us to only win about seven games this season.  Tbhis tema is still a yhear away because of no depth at reciever and no depth at corner, two of the most important poisitions on the field.  Can anybody say pass interference on Sunday night?

Well ... it was already posted on the website [Cowboys] that Glenn was done for the year but for some reason it vanished all of the sudden.  I believe they are keeping it hush because they are trying to find/sign another WR quietly.  Once that happens I believe TG will be put on IR.  It was also reported that he may be done period and not just for the year.   They will either make a deal or sign one of the FA out there such as Caldwell, McCardell, Morgan are all names being thrown around.  Another report says don't look for the Cowboys to trade away either #1 pick to find a reciever.  They may trade a 1st day pick but not a #1.

Me, I'm very nervous, but, mostly curious to see how they contend without

Ellis, and Glenn and confident that Burnett will play.

Is it just me, or does Terry Glenn stay hurt a lot?  I always wondered why Parcells called him She.  Now I see why.

Terry Glenn's last catch for the Cowboys was his catch and fumble against the Seahawks. He should have retired instead of Parcells.  If Glenn's most recent injury is unrelated to his last one, then this is one brittle wide reciever. The Cowboys have to start being realistic. Holding out hope that either Glenn or Ellis are going to play this year are slim and none. This is great news for Clayton, Hurd and Austin. This is a blessing in disguise.

I agree, we'll miss his field stretching capabilities. But I think the guys behind them will step up in this new offense. As long as the  line can hold, Romo will hit someone.

I'm more worried with our ability to stop a potent offense.

Cautiously optimistic is how I describe my feelings about this game without Glenn or New.

I have to hope our new attacking scheme will not allow the Giants recievers too much time to get open.

Worried about Jacobs,,,, He is so frickin huge!
