Cowboys Not Looking Down The Hall

It’s a common mindset. A star player announces that he either wants to be traded from his current team and we automatically see if he fits for the Cowboys.

            We all do it.

And in this case, it made sense because the Cowboys actually have a need at cornerback.

But at this point, it doesn’t appear the Cowboys have any strong interest in acquiring Atlanta’s disgruntled cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who has recently stated he will not play for the Falcons in 2008.

Hall, a first-round pick in 2004 (eighth overall), is so unhappy in Atlanta that it seems the Falcons are just as ready to ship him out.

In fact, the Falcons have called a few teams inquiring a trade, including the Cowboys.

The word is, the conversation didn’t even last long enough to see what it might cost to acquire him.

At this point, the Cowboys are focused on signing Flozell Adams and figuring out what to do with Marion Barber. And by figuring out, I’m talking about in terms of playing for a one-year tender, which tender to give him or getting a deal done right now.

The Cowboys might trade up in the draft, but it seems very, VERY unlikely that Barber will be included in that. So don’t hold off on buying those Barber jerseys.

And since we’re speculating here, word out of Indianapolis is that the possibility of Randy Moss to the Cowboys is starting to surface. Not sure if that has any legs at all, so for now, let’s keep that strictly in the “rumor category.” Sounds tempting for Jerry Jones, considering he still might haunted by not taking Moss back in 1998. But still, you wouldn’t think the Cowboys would have the cash to get that done. And T.O. and Moss together? That deserves a “wow” for so many reasons.

But I can’t see Moss actually leaving New England. He’s been able to help good quarterbacks have great seasons. But he got paired up with a great quarterback and they both shattered records and were less than a minute away from becoming the best team in NFL history. I’d say he’s figured it out enough to return for at least another year.

I like Flo, but I think we have good depth behind him and we probably need the cap room. The young guys will just need to step up and prove themselves.  FLo is a real good OT, but when you get down to it we more playmakers and I think that is what Jerry is going to go after.

i dont think Hall is that good to begin with, plus he has character issues. I'd rather draft a CB and develop him so he can eventually take over for Henry. Him and T.O dont like each other and i heard the Giants and Skins are interested in him so let them get Hall so T.O can burn him twice a year!

I'm glad to hear you don't think JJ will include Barber in a trade deal.  That would be just downright stupid.  While the thought of having Moss with TO is too good to believe, I seriously doubt that would happen.  What about Dante Stallworth though?  Isn't he quick enough to replace Glenn if he doesn't recover?

If Barber left, I think Dallas would actually be set ablaze.  When I think of Hall, I just smell burning toast...

The chances of getting Monty Hall (lets make a deal........are you old enough to remember?? ha ha) are betting than getting De-Angelo Hall. Even if Jerry has trees that grow money..............the NFL only lets you spend so much on players (Stadiums and coaches are OK though) I am a simple guy, but even my 1st grade math skills allow me to calculate that having De-Angelo Hall, Randy Moss, Bo Derek etc etc on the roster is a pipe dream. Sign the reamaining Pcs we need to sign....make a decision about Flo.........and then we move on to the draft (remember we still do need a little money left-over for the thing called the draft) then focus for 2008.

i agree with that, why go after a guy that hasnt proven himself yet but a trash talker, ok with flo, dont get me wrong, he did have a better year, but we do have guys that can play, hell we let go of allen and we still did ok. im all for loyalty but we need money. ok offer barber a one year deal. let another team get him. ok now we have more picks , and no i not sayin to get mcfadden, there is plenty of backs that can run the ball. with hudson back as a coach. anyone can run with our line..but we do need to adress the flo deal.  which should've been done weeks ago. remember team loyalty.. dont wait for the last min on players that got us where we are..barber hasnt been in long enough yet lol.. ya he got the pro bowl bid, but at whose cost..his or jones.. but lets just see how the front office handles these issues and lets see how we praise or gripe at it....

I disagee Nick, I believe no team will pay deangelo halls 10 million dollar demands. but, we the cowboys will have the inside track to the deal for hall when his price comes down...for no one is offering and proven cb henry and ilb akin adeleye plus the 22 and dallas fourth round pick.  atlanta knows this is a great deal for them.

as for flo, i think we need him, but i believe mcquistitian is ready. if they do get flo back, i think boys need to bench kosier and play him a the swing g - cut bergen and draft a G/C.

i dont believe we are getting moss, but i do think getting javon walker could be interesting. we can get him for cheap...and one of the two bum leg wr's (glenn or javon) will make it through camp and pre season.

why do i have a feeling we are going to trade barber for another back and first round pick?

I say bring in Moss and Hall.. would give us more options with our draft picks.  Let go overpaid Players like Ayodele, Furgueson... Trade our two 1st rd. picks along with Bobby Carp, Fasano, R. Williams, A. Henry... all BP's boyz... then trade down 2 spots to pick up picks and draft McFadd.

i totally disagree with everyone who things Flo is average and McQuistan is ready to take his place. If you really watch Flozell Adams you really can't help but notice he's a better than average run blocker and a pretty dominating pass blocker.  Game after game he shuts down double digit sack guys who have been to pro bowls and are considered top notch rushers. Those guys are hard to find these days and cost quite a bit.  McQuistan is a complete unknown and i don't trust that with Romo's health.

Trade Roy Williams, please. Hall and TO on the same team would be a huge mistake. A bigger mistake would be to trade Barber. Forget Arkansas, lets move up only a few spots and draft Jonathan Stewart. The kid is like a pin ball with legs and he's much faster then Barber. I don't see us making any moves at WR unless Glenn isn't able to come back.If so, we should take a look at Javon Walker. I think he would be an excellent 2nd-3rd option.

Having Hall on the Cowboys would be a bad idea, the minute he mouths off, I think TO would lay him out. I would much rather just draft a CB and let him develope, but I think we need a fast CB, so JJ dont get anyone thats a Henry clone..... Please?
