I'm down with Romo, I just don't want to listen to Mia and Bledsoes cousins for the next year. I know what I saw, he's a leader, he's athletic and he has a set of nads like a sasquatch. We'll be fine.

lol, sasquatch huh?  Is it normal for sasquatches to drop footballs in key moments?  lol

It's due to opposable thumbs that are not quite as evolved as ours (and slick footballs). Take it easy on the kid it's not his fault.

    LOL, damn annointment oil.

This is a bit off topic but it seemed like last year the Cowboys opening drives were well scipted but the offense would flatten out a bit. (J-Ville, New Orleans game are good examples). I hope Garret does not let this happen this year. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is Dallas taking a corner a little earlier but I think the draft was pretty good. I am going to be rooting against Cleveland more than ever, a might even turn on one of their games this year (for a couple of minutes).

I think the draft stunk like an Eagle. The only thing we got was spencer and people who will fight to make the team. The jury is still out until next year though in my book. We better come up big or we just layed an egg.

The offense flattened out because on third and 12 we would run a draw or screen pass for two yards. Garrets young and enthusiastic, we're in for more excitment than BP offered.

Yeah, trick plays with our personnel is very possible.

Trick plays are fun. We need Witten (remember him) involved in the offense and TO and Glenn stretching the field, Romo rolling out, Crayton underneath, Fasano lead blocking on a reverse. That's what I'm talking about. Not you line up your guys, I'll line up mine, and we'll run straight off tackle, throw a short pass on second, and then a draw play to trick you. We're not built for that. We're built with skills.

I used to like surprises, then Jerry Jones came along.

Yeah, and women like guys with skills. lol, To tell you the truth, i really hope they put in this Stanbach guy on some reverses, screens and trick reverse pass plays.  Keep the defense guessing.

I don't get why it seems like everybody is ready to crown Spencer and give Ellis the boot when this guy was drafted the reaction from the NFL analysts was priceless they were all taking corner safety then "The Dallas Cowboys draft Anthony Spencer" everyone of them including me had the WTF look on them I hope this guy pans out and proves worthy as a 1st round pick and as a result somehow our secondary (which I guess was addressed with two 7th round picks) shows none of the familar holes I've come to know by heart (Thanks Santana Moss, Drew Brees and Michael Vick) and what's with all this Jackie Battle talk please if he was such a gem capable of replacing Julius Jones who is a 1000 yard back by the way he would have been drafted man it sounds like we just got Adrian Peterson as a free agent from all this talk

For the past 14 years, from 1994 through 2008, The U has had at least one player selected in the first round of the NFL draft, including 19 in 4 years a record unmatched by any other college or university.

Although I didn't keep up with him in college, last I heard, Brady Quinn held 37 Notre Dame football records.  That reeks of being a possible Franchise Quarterback!  Not to mention, Tony Romo is only signed for the next year and then you are going to have to renegotiate with him.  Who do we have for backups?  Brad "At the end of my Career" Johnson and then nobody.  I would have taken the franchise QB without a second's thought and then traded with the Eagles for the DL that I "really wanted all along."  I don't want to hear about this team being so solid and are positioned for a run at the Super Bowl.  Can you say nine and six?  That's about what we can expect next year.  Then, we can trade our first to pick from Cleveland for other second and third round busts (ie Stephen Peterman and Jacob Rogers).  I will never understand trading out of the first round to pick up guys like Julius Jones (who is not an every down back) and then crowing about how well we did.  I give credit for getting the D Linemenan/Linebacker that we wanted but I think the draft as a whole will go down in the books again as paying very poor dividends...except if you are drafting only to get special teams players.  This will have little to no impact on the outcome of games this year.  At best, 10 and 5.  Maybe 8 and 8 this year.  We haven't helped ourselves at all while we could be grooming a fantastic QB in Quinn in case Romo goes down or we are not able to get a deal done with him.  Seemed alright for San Fran when they had two Hall of Famers on their roster at one time.

I think fans like you need to go find another team to cheer for. You sound like a depressing country song and you haven't even seen any of the guys we drafted play yet. Why draft a QB when we have one who's taken us to the playoffs in his first year with a terrible Oline? In case you didn't know Defense wins championships. If you don't believe go look at Peyton's numbers in the playoffs last year(including SB 3TD's & 7INT's). I'm tired of hearing that we need a Hall of Fame QB to win a SB. The only tough out of divisions games I see are Chicago, NE, Jets, Carolina. We also improved more than any other NFC East team so why wouldn't we win that this year? If you think we're going 8-8 you're crazy. Go read up and watch some tape before you come on here talking.

The only thing I gotta say is, do you think Adrian Peterson would've have been so high in the draft if he went to Houston University instead of Arkansas?  Hell no.  There are great players that go to small schools that don't get drafted.  Just based on the guys build, speed, and strength, this guy is good.  On paper he looks alot better than Julius Jones.  At least Battle doesn't quit on plays and at least he keeps his legs moving.  I would trade Julius for a guy that has only been stopped for a loss 6 times out of 441 carries any day.

I agree with BoysFan here, it depends greatly on what size school you play for. I hope JJ runs better this year or we get someone who will run better.  Also gdogg, do you think that if drafted a FS or CB in the first round they would start? No they wouldn't. Hamlin or Henry would have started over them. Plus we have Watkins waiting to take over, probably after Hamlins one year deal is up.  The main problem last year was not with out secondary, it was with out pass rush or lack there of. Thats why Spencer was a good pick, he will be able to contribute right away unlike a FS or CB if we drafted one of them.

BoysFansince, what happened to your ring of honor. your back down to a shoe in HOFer, as am i??

Yeah but there is getting behind your draft picks and treating like royalty before they are proven Battle may turn out to be a gem but comeon and undrafted rookie RB taking over for a 1000 yard back and like you said on paper the guy looks great everybody that gets picked up looks great on paper on paper means nothing the Redskins last year looked good on paper  the Pats this year look unbeatable on paper this year if we're going to follow the blind faith philosophy of on paper then lets call Courtney Brown the next prime time Would a first round CB or FS start?  Not automatically neither will Spencer whatever pick should earn that spot and if there was a good enough pickup then yeah there would be a possibility of him starting Watkins was a rookie and he started some games if there was a problem with our pass rush it wasn't at LB it was more in our front 3

There was a problem in our front three.  Parcells neglected to use them to show off THEIR strengths.  That's a huge problem.  Let's just put it this way.  Wade Phillips has ran plenty of 3-4 defenses, and if he feels like the front three is fine, then I think I'm gonna take his word for it.  As far as battle goes, the reason why I'm saying he looks better on paper is because I looked at the evaluation for Julius Jones and it all hit him right on. The fact that he has a tendency to go down after the first hit.  He isn't a very self motivated player.  Etc etc.  So based on the accuracy of that report, I looked up Battles, and if battle even continued with what he shows on paper, he will be bigger, stronger and faster than Julius.  He is a very self-motivated player, and he learns very quickly.  The list on this guy goes on forever.

Finaly sombody with some common sence here, Spencer is most likely, baring injury, the only guy who has any chance seeing majer playing time, and I think if Ellis makes it back to 90-100% before the start to of the season he will be maining linbacker oppisite Ware.  If for some reason he dosn't, I don't see this rookie being able to majically jump to the pro level and dominate.  I would love to eat crow on this one, trust me, but lets be realistic, we are not necesairly in the rebuilding phase here, we are in the needing one or two more puzzel pices to go deap or win it all.  That being said I am betting that none of the guys this draft class will start, one exception is the kicker if he beats out Gramatica, or possibly other guy starting at kick reterner, but I was thinking more of the 22 main starters.

You can take his word for it I'll beleive my eyes but well maybe that was the problem with the line  but if that is the problem then you don't need more  front 7 help more presure from the front 3 plus from the LB core already in place that'll be enough and this kid Battle I wish him well but I'm gonna let him play a down before I give Julius the boot he's a 1000 yard back it's like he rushed for 700 yards and 0 TDs or something Look Battle may turn out to be all that the scouting report and the highlight reel says he is but untill he proves it I'm staying skeptical

Yeah, but the only problem is to be a 1,000 yard rusher now-a-days, you only have to average 62.5 yards a carry.  Julius needs to add another 600 yards to that total to impress me.  He hardly even hit that mark.  If he hadn't broke that one 77 yard run he would be a little under 1,000.  The point is, he has had 3 years to prove himself, and he always seems to lack the extra umf we need from him.  I'm not saying that Battle will come in and take JJ's spot, but I am saying, while you may believe JJ is still the man for the job, he has shown me nothing to prove that he is.  HE HAS NO HEART.  That's why I don't want him on this team.

The only reason why I like the pick up of spencer is because he almost mirrors the type of pass rusher Ware, Merriman, and Shaun Phillips are.  I don't see Ellis coming back for too long, and if he does, he's not going to be the same.  Carpenter isn't really a pass rusher, but more of a run stopper, which will be great for him to play ILB and compete with James and Ayodele for the starting spots.

To me Julius did his part in the two back system it's amazing to me how a 77 yard run could be demeaned so greatly For now I think Julius is the guy he's the man for the job untill Battle or someone else pairs up with Barber better I don't like the Spencer pick up cause I see the secondary as a greater need forgive me for being tramatized by Brees and ewww Santana Moss Maybe Ellis could have done the job maybe we could have done just as well in Free Agency or maybe Spencer compliments Ware better than anyone could but really I hope I 'm wrong cause I don't want to see another 4 TD game through the air against us
