I just went on youtube, and saw some of Roy Williams greatest hits, and plays.  WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man he was really something special when he came on to the scene.  I'm not sure if his best days are behind him, or that he's a player that has lost his confidence, but Damn did he lower the boom to everyone.  Very good speed, and he made some pretty nice int's.  Where did that player ever go?

I have seen the same tapes and Roy is just a shell of a player now. He got his payday and now he just takes it easy. I hope he does not make the Pro Bowl, so he can get some of that fire back.

I totally agree that Roy is just not the same as he was a few years ago.I seem to remember that he was never really great at coverage but just his presence back there was enough for WR's to shorten their routes or have "alligator arms" because they knew what was waiting for them.Roy was always a devestating hitter and he got by with that for a few years. Now we have a team that is 12-1 and we can't find glaring weaknesses like past years and we have to find something to fix. I think that just having competition at the safety position is a good thing no matter who is starting because they know if they don't perform, someone else will take their spot.I have every confidence in Wade and what he's doing and if he sees a true playmaker in Watkins, then he's going to play.Man all that for one sentence about Pat?LOL! As long as the guys up front continue to get decent pressure on the opposing teams' QB's,we'll be just fine. How 'bout dem Cowboys?!Hey Patriots, see you at the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe. But there were too many times where he didn't make a play on the ball last year. He did however create some plays, but there were more negatives than positives. With more experience he should be able to play better than he did his rookie year.

Re: Watkins - I can't see this happening in the immediate future, maybe in a few years. I really hope we tie Hamlin up to a deal in the close season

Yes, I do see him getting a starting job.  It probably won't happen this year but next year I think the safety spots should be wide open to competition.  Watkins is young, fast, quick to the ball and is showing strong tackling ability.  That sounds like the recipe for a great safety to me.  What do the rest think?

I like Watkins, and I think he'll make a good safety, but I think the Cowboys are looking to resign Hamlin, he's been good this year, and the players have raved about his leadership & how he gets the secondary lined up....If we resign Hamlin, I don't see Watkins becoming a start for a while if ever at all...

I think he will be great down the road.  For all the reasons you mentioned including one you didn't...he is Tall!  Which is critical when dealing with some of these receivers and the weak NFL rules now on contact.

Besides...I seem to recall we had another FSU defender that turned out pretty well  ;-)

    ps

Dallas Cowboys: Can clinch homefield advantage throughout NFC playoffs: 1) DAL win + GB loss. Dallas clinches a first-round bye: 1) DAL win or tie; OR 2) SEA loss or tie.

Yeah, I know, I'm ready for that to happen, but as long as we keep winning, it will take care of itself...but I don't wan to go into the last game of the season having to win to get homefield throughout....if we win our next 2 we should clinch homefield throughout...
