This isn't main forum worthy???? Really? :rolls eyes: I think this DIRECTLY affects cowboys fans as the Patriots are the newest dynasty and it is important to the legacy of the cowboys whether we were the last authentic one or not.

There's no reference to the Cowboys in your original post and just because it may affect them, it also affects 30 other teams as well.  The topic is about the Government and the Patriots and no mention of DIRECTLY affecting the Cowboys.

So no it doesn't belong in the "Official Dallas Cowboys Discussion Forum", but that doesn't lessen it's value as a legitimate topic.  Which I think it is but in this forum.

That Congressman may be a Jets fan upset over the Week 1 loss to the Pats (and rightfully so). He probably chose now to act due to the inclusion of a New York team.

Now I will tell you, those New York/Boston rivalries can get pretty dramatic sometimes. Anybody remember the fight that broke out during Game 3 of the 2003 ALCS? Well, Mayor Bloomberg of NYC responded to that by saying that if that ever happened at Yankee Stadium that he'd have the Red Sox players involved ARRESTED!

It needs to be investigated.  And Goodell, as much as I appreciate him cracking down on the crackheads and punks (such as pacman), needs to be checked out on his methodology in deciding how to punish the patsies.  He makes them lose a 1st round draft pick, all the while knowing they've got 2 #1's (and he makes them lose the worst of the two!!).  And all the while he's suspending a Dallas COACH for drug activity that obviously had nothing to do with football, that could have easily been handled behind closed doors or warnings issued.

And this isn't even talking about the Roy Williams suspension, while the patsies have a loose cannon like Wilfork running loose doing anything he wants.  And don't hand me that crap that Wilfork "hasn't done the same crime 3 times" -- that's BS, his conduct on the field shows all anyone needs to get his @$$ suspended.

Sorry gang but it's not that important to me.

Government and sports, I just don't think they need to mix this much. I would prefer our government focus on doing right for the people and not so much the games. The league themselves can change the front office structure and deal with these types of problems. Create their own watch dog system and leave the politicians to do their jobs.

Watch Wilfork get arrested for a felony offense during the off-season, and we'll all be like, "Goodell shafted Pacman for the whole season, Chris Henry and Tank Johnson for half a season, and Michael Vick indefinitely (possibly for life), and what does Wilfork get? NO SUSPENSION!"

Re: FINALLY!!! THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO KNOW WHY GOODDELL DESTROYED TAPES!

I heard that it was Senator Arlen Spector of Pennsylvania that was initiating it, but I digress, lets hope that this leads to the official *asterix* next to all of the cheaters so called accomplishements once and for all. They are what they are "Cheaters" I do like their name, the Cheatriots, suits them well. And also the resignation of that joke Goodell. This is worse than watergate. Watergate only concerned the Presidency, this concerns the NFL, so much more important.

    hahaha - i agree.

initially, when the baseball steroids stuff was going on, i thought the gov't shouldnt be involved. But the gov't gave pro sports leagues anti-trust exemptions, a VERY BIG DEAL that means the playing fields have to be level for all participants.

I hate to see the goverment get involved.  The only thing them politicians do to what they get involved in is screw things up and make it cost more money.

Funny thing is they haven't done anything for the state of NY, might as well look good for the city of NY. Complete BS if you ask me.

i dont think the gov't had anything to do with how much it cost to go to a baseball game. its foolish to think that the gov't has anywhere near the impact on what it costs to follow sports as the greedy owners who pay players more and more and pass the costs (plus extra for their pockets) on to the fans.

as far as the gov't getting involved in the direct tv/sunday ticket nfl network/cable companies issue... who else is going to straighten this out? The NFL is trying to make the cable companies do something they themselves arent willing to do, allow every american the choice. the nfl doesn't allow for cable companies to carry the sunday ticket, because direct tv pays them so much to keep it exclusive. yet they turn around and tell the cable companies they should make nfl network part of the basic programming package (which means that the nfl gets money from the cable companies for EVERY cable subscriber)
