Comparing the Cowboys and Patriots dynasties:

The Cowboys' "Triplets Dynasty" in the '90s produced three Super Bowls and is regarded by some as the greatest in NFL history. The Patriots' "Belichick-Brady Dynasty" is aiming for its fourth Super Bowl in seven years Sunday against the Giants. Complete the perfect 19-0 season, and many will consider the '07 Patriots the best NFL team ever.

The '90s Cowboys might have something to say about that, regardless if New England beats New York on Sunday. What do you think about the two dynasties? How do they measure up against each other? The '70s Steelers? The '80s 49ers?

Had Jimmy Johnson stayed and Jerry listened to him we would have won 4, 5 maybe 6 times in the 90s.

However I still think what the Steelers did in the 70s is the bench mark. But if the Pats go 19-0...well move over Pittsburgh thanks for playing we have lovely parting gifts for you.

I would have to say that if the Belichick/Brady Patriots went up against the Johnson/Aikman Cowboys they would fail miserably. The 90's Cowboys would dominate the Patriots in every aspect of the game. Heck the 2007 Cowboys manhandled them for the first 3 quarters. The Patriots execute well, but have shown on more than one occasion this past season that they can be beaten. But lousy calls either way and turnovers always seem to go their way. Understand I'm not taking anything away from them but they are not as good as the 90's Cowboys, period !!! I'm going to take my Paxil now Big Smile

As big of a Boys fan as I am, and I'm a diehard, I have to give the nod to the Pats - even more so if they complete the 19-0 run.  They've maintained the same level of play as a team, and often the same results (rings) during the age of Free Agency as opposed to the 90's Cowboys.  Skill position players have come & gone through the revolving door in New England, and yet they roll deep into the playoffs time & time again.

As a true fan of the sport I have to give them the credit that they deserve...

I am not sure you can compare either of the teams to one another. They all played in different decades, so they way football was played for each team was different. Though as much as we like to hate on the Patriots the Patriots have done something that none of those mentioned teams have been able to do, and do something that only one other team in NFL History have ever done and that is go undefeated for the entire season, if they win the Super Bowl that is.

However I am to die hard a Cowboy fan to give the Patriots the edge over the Cowboys, or any of those teams for that matter because I think the Patriots offense would not be able to contend with the defense the Steelers had because they would hit the Patriots in the mouth all game long and the Pats would not be able to come back. The 49er's with the offense they had I am not sure the Pats defense would be able to co keep up with that. Now there is the Cowboys who were great in all area's of the game, offense, defene and special teams. I can not see the Pats keeping up with all that.

The difference in my eyes is that Dallas has been great throughout the history of the NFL. There has been a handful of coaches that had success. After Bellycheat retires or is done humping Bradys leg , they will go back to their sucking traditions. Imo, they rule. In the late 60's they were good. Superbowl in 1970, Won the Superbowl in 1971, Playoffs in 1972 and 1973, Superbowl in 1975, Playoffs in 1976, Won the Superbowl in 1977, Superbowl in 1978, Playoffs in 1979, Playoffs in 1980, Playoofs in 1981, Playoffs in 1982, Playoffs 1983, Playoffs in 1985, Playoffs in 1991, Won the Superbowl in 1992, 1993, Playoffs in 1994, Won the Superbowl in 1995, Playoffs in 1996, Playoffs in 1998, Playoffs in 1999, Playoffs in 2003, Playoffs in 2006 and 2007.  The Patties have had ONE good decade, but it's not over. There's still a couple of years left for us to dominate in the 2000's.

Thanks Fan since 1975, I wish people would look at it like this. Yeah, we haven't won anything in a while, but we made it to the playoffs the last two seasons, and even though we haven't won anything, we're back. In no time, we'll be winning playoff games and Superbowls.

This is true ! Let the Patriots enjoy this season because it will never happen like that again for them. IMO they lucked out in more than a few games this season. Actually the GMen could pull off the #1 upset of all time. Especially with the way their Defense is playing.

Very true. And you know what? Part of me almost wouldn't mind if NY won. This way we can sweep 'em again, then push them out of the playoofs. (I hope).

If the Pats win this Sunday then they definetly are the best dynasty in NFL history considering that  teams now deal with free agency and it is hard to keep key players on board for a long time without running into the salary cap head-on.  Even though I am not a Pats fan, their 19-0 will make it hard to argue against them.  However, if they lose this Sunday, then I would say they are up there with my Boys, the Steelers, and the 49ers.

Oh I'm rooting for NY to beat the Patriots !!! Hey I was looking at the NFL Mock Draft and I read the following:

Round 1     Darren McFadden to the Oakland Raiders     RB   Arkansaw

Round 2     Andre Caldwell to the Dallas Cowboys          WR  Fla

What do you think about that so far ?

The only reason I would even try to argue your point is one thing. That the Pats have only had one successful run. Throughout the history of the NFL, I don't think there is even a question of who the great teams off all time are. The Pats are up there. Even if they don't win, but to me, imo, it doesn't hold a candle to what Dallas has done since the beginning. Pats have their "dynasty" for now, I guess.

Re: Comparing the Cowboys and Patriots dynasties:

The '70's Cowboys, '70's Steelers, '80's Niners and 90's Cowboys were all better than these Patriots. The 2000's Patriots have squeaked by in three Superbowls against a watered down league, thanks to free agency and the salary cap. They are the best of a pretty mediocre lot and that's their legacy. The reason they went 18-0 is simply because of the lack of quality competition...their past is proof of that. They got blown out in the only SB they ever appeared in before parity (read mediocrity) took over.

What I'd like to know is WTF is  Wes Welker's picture and story, along with this thread doing on our Cowboy's site? Y'all (the writers here) want to talk about the Pats or the Giants, why don't you go to their site? I'm sure there will be plenty of doting fans there. This crap is lame.

How about an update on Dom Capers, potential free agents or draft picks. WTH cares about those other teams.

As Bill Parcells would say, "You people just don't get it."
