    what to do with akin/carp?

Guys we just signed Zach Thomas on the dallas morning news it says a 1yr deal on espn it says a multiyear deal (which makes sense) so i'm thinking if its only a 1 year deal and thomas has come off of head injuries then we need to keep someone to back him up, but AKIN let me get this out, he is a GOOD SOLID PLAYER i just don't think he's right for the 4-3 that's not  his fault its our personnel departments fault/jerry/whoever else, also you have carp who's also better set to be in the 4-3, i think akin has more TRADE VALUE then carp does, i think we could trade akin for a 4th maybe, AT LEAST GET SOMETHING FOR HIM, don't let him walk away, how do you guys feel? would carp have value because of his age vs compared to a guy like akin?

I also think that this maybe our ONLY splash in free agency, due to the fact that we have to sign OUR OWN GUYS, then drafted players

Carpenter and Ayodele will be out of here, probably in a draft day trade to a team (Like St. Louis, New York Jets, or Cincinatti) that desperately needs some LB talent. With Thomas's signing, I just don't see Ayodele and Carpenter having much value with this team.

Ayodele and Spears to Cincinnati for their 2nd round pick.

Carpenter, Fasano, and possibly Fergy & TG will end-up in Miami somehow.

It is a 1 year deal, not a mutli year thing

Also, you trade Ayodele, not Carp.

GEAUX LSU TIGERS!!!!! (And, of course, Go Cowboys also!!!)

JaMarcus Russell current contract (total cap hit)- 6 years, $61 million, $32 million guaranteed. ($10+ million/ year average)
Adrian Peterson current contract (total cap hit)- 6 years, $40.5 million, $17 million guaranteed ($6.75 million/ year average)

Ayodele's likely gone in a draft day deal now --- Carpenter should be cut; who'd trade for him?

While you're handing out money ... PAY HAMLIN!

Meh, you might want to keep Carpenter due to depth issues. We have 5 ILB's now: James, Ayodele, Burnett, Carpenter, and Thomas. I would trade Ayodele away, but keep Carpenter until his contract runs out and we can just straight release him.

So it'll probably be like this.

James, Carpenter for one ILB spot.

Thomas, Burnett rotating for the other ILB spot.

Sounds okay to me, the move just kills our cap though.

Well, with whomever moves or doesn't move, I think this pretty much guarantees that the Boys WILL draft an ILB in the draft.  Instead of being a 5th or 6th round prospect, maybe now we could be looking at a 4th or 3rd selection (the extra pick in the 3rd round if a team accepts Baber's tender).

Wait... why? If you move Ayodele, we'll still have three inside linebackers next year, meaning nabbing one in round 4 or 5 next season would be OK.

Trade both of them maybe? For a couple more Draft picks? I think Miami would want them, and would be willing to give up a few middle or late round draft picks for them both?

BLEEDIN BLUE ARE YOU SERIOUS? you have to read one of the stories, THOMAS WANTS TO START, no way in hell carp starts over him especially when your manager brings a guy in, carps playing time will probably increase alot though

Yeah I agree, no way Carp starts over Thomas. However I can't see Thomas starting either.

If Zach had a healthier history or was signed for more than just one year I would be inclined to believe it would be a late round pick, but since that is not the case they may look to find a guy that is on the top-tier.

Read my post again, then apologize.

I said "James, Carpenter for one ILB spot".

That means James starts at one ILB spot, and Carpenter backs him up.

"And then Thomas and Burnet rotate at the other ILB spot".

It's self-explainatory. This means, Thomas and Burnett rotate at the other ILB spot.
