JJ KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING...

In regards to our RB situation, JJ KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING!

(This is the disclaimer, this thread is about JJ and RB, that is the focus…I KNOW THERE ARE OTHER NEEDS…)

MBIII is between a rock and hard place considering his position on a contract.

    1. The current NFL market has next to nothing going on in RB market, why you ask?!  The market is flooded; most teams have what we would consider a #1 RB.  Any team that needs a RB is already placed in good position to draft one in the 1st rd this year, aside from Michael Turner..
    2. The Draft has OUTSTANDING DEPTH this year and if you take a little harder look, next years draft is looking strong also!!!

Currently no team is going to sign Barber and or trade for him and it’s has nothing to do with MBIII's talent.  The value at RB just isn’t there anymore…

SO WHY SHOULD JJ SIGHN A MAJOR CONTRACT on MBIII.  Don’t get me wrong, MBIII will get his money just not the type of CRAZY MONEY being paid out right now in FA…

JJ will keep his starting RB, save money in the salary cap on MBIII’s next contract, and still work his magic in the draft and grab the compliment RB….

Not bad for a meddlesome Owner…

Yeah I agree we dont need to draft a RB in the first round, unless someone like Mendenhall falls to us, other then that draft a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Im not sure hes saying we dont need to draft a RB in the first round, nessecarlly, im not sure though. I do think that it would benifit us more to draft a RB in the first round because i think the backup RB will have more of an impact than the WR we draft just because we use a 2 back system and the WR will take a little time to adjust to the NFL.

I don't see JJ moving up to get McFadden but if the right guy fell far enough then yes I am for drafting a RB in the 1st rd.  Just so much depth that I wouldn't be upset if we grabbed one in the 3rd or 4th round...

Either way JJ has a plan and it would it appear MBIII is a part of the plan whether he likes it (cash$$$) or not...

I hope to see Barber with a star on his helmet next year. I would like to get McFadden but i do not agree to move up very far to get him, i would be ok moving up to maybe the late teens if here to fall that far, but i dont see that happening. I do see RB as a team need, probably up there with CB because we only have one tendered, not even on the roster yet. Thats why i hope JJ takes one in the first two rounds, then i hope he gets another one a little later in the draft.

Barber will have a star on his helmet... NO DOUBT!

I am starting to warm to the idea of Tatem Bell as compliment RB to Barber.  Saw the kid play in Denver live and on TV many times (prior to the TRADE to Detroit).  THIS KID CAN REALLY SCOOT!  A move like this would not hinder us from grabbing a RB in the draft anywere we want to grab one...

I think when you say a RB did well in Denver, there should be a big * next it. I can think of plenty of backs that very well in Denver but didnt produce any where else, and some that did produce else where. Portis hasnt had the same type of season he had in Denver.

With that said, i would not mind getting Bell but i think he would have to compete with a rookie and i could see him as the #3 RB, if he is ok with that and doesnt cost very much, then bring him in.

That is exactly how the Cowboys would look at a player like Bell.  A veteran with talent and experience to compete with a Rookie.  I don't even think there would be a clear cut #2 or #3 RB.  Just situational and for certain offensive sets....

I heard that Bell was looking to start, which probably would not happen in Dallas

If that is the case I wish Tatem Bell the best of luck cause he is going to need it!!!  No one is going to give him the opportunity to be a #1 RB right now.  Not with the DEPTH in the next two drafts and the current RB talent in the NFL!!!!

Barber more than likely will get his money during the season. Like the Cowboys did with Romo this past season.

Re: JJ KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING...

Imagine how much better Barber would be with a complementary RB that actually did anything?  Think about that!!

To me its not whether Barber can handle the Starting Role, or even if he's durable enough to handle the load as a so called "Feature Back".

Its about getting him more "touches" as a direct result of having a couple of guys that can also kick some butt and move the chains.

JJ had 558 yards on 164 carries.  That's 3.4 YPC.  Think how many more yards and TD's Barber will have as a result of a Chris Johnson and a Ray Rice toting the ball 175 times in a Season, combined.  Barber's "load" will go up just as a result of more productivity than 558 yards on 164 carries!!!!!

Jerry Jones isn't getting rid of Barber.  He's going to get Barber some running mates that can systematically get Barber to 17 carries a Game.  That's 272 carries over the course of the year.  The other two guys, presumably Rice and Johnson will carry it 175 times, but DO MORE WITH THOSE CARRIES, to allow Barber's load to increase.

You might not think Julius Jones's production hurt the Cowbys that much last year, due in part to Romo's explosive Stats, and the Team winning 13 Games.

But from a "consistency" standpoint, the Offense sputtered way to often to suit me.  So, do we need a DMac to increase Barber's totals to 17 carries?  NO.  Absoulutely not.

Not when you can get it with two guys named Chris Johnson and Ray Rice, at a Fraction of the money!!!

There is no way the Midgets would have won a SB last year, without the services of Jacobs, Ward, Droughns, and Bradshaw!!!! And they traded away Brian Grant to the Pack.

We take NY down with Barber Rice and Johnson, 8 of 10 games!!!!  We take everybody down with Hardy, Rice and Johnson.

Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the "Pick Three"!!! Ray Rice, James Hardy, and Chris Johnson!!!!!!!!!

    Good Day Asphault...

It's OFFICIAL YOU HAVE MAN CRUSHES on your "PICK 3"!!!

I still think you should re-name the group, "Pick 3" is not good enough to effectively describe the HARD-ON you have for these guys...

Man EVERYDAY we could go at it about this upcoming draft and your picks, but that is what makes this fun!!!!  Me, personally I don't think JJ will intrust the back up positions to TWO rookies RB's.  But hey that's just me...

Either way, I think JJ is playing this RB situation just right!!!  MBIII will not make top dollar, we will draft at least ONE guy, and the third option will not cost us too much!!!

It would depend on if Barber is the starter, or the role guy that he has been the past couple of seasons. If the was the starter, he would have well over a 1,000 yards probably around 15+ Td's.
