For all you Yankees fans.
After much anticipation to the start of Yankees baseball, the Yankees won their home opener against the Toront Blue Jays 3-2. A-Rod went 2 for 3 scoring a run and driving in an RBI. Too bad he doesn't hit like that during the playoffs.
1 down 161 more to go.
New season, new players, new result!

It's all ARod's fault that the Yankees haven't done anything. Just like it's all Romo's fault for the Dec colapse? it will take the whole team to win in the playoffs. It personally makes me ill when people villanize one player. Yeah, I think ARod needs to come through. What I saw last year in the playoffs was that he was trying too hard. He wants it and he will get there.
As long as the Yankees own the red sox....Life is good.

Bro I love the Yankees just like the Cowboys, and I'm always objective with both teams. The downfall of the Yanks is and has been for quite some time, is thier failure in the "Bull Pen" Until they shore it up and get some good quality pitchers, and stop relying on Revira to pull them through, they'll continue to have problems in the play-offs.A-Rod will be just fine, and I ca't understand why theyl left Shef go, he was such a "BIG STICK" for them!

I don't think it's never ARod's fault as some would say. I think it's more Brian Cashman's and G Stienbrenner fault. They need more Joba C/Robinson C players vs. Jason Giambi types...

A-Rod is making 28 mil a yr. Thats more than some whole teams. He needs to produce in the post season, where it counts. I'll take 1 jeter over 10 A-rods anyday. Produce in teh post season, we need a ring again

That is correct chetos. It is a team sport and no one individual is to blame for a loss. It would however be reassuring if he didn't go into a slump in the playoffs. Whether he's trying to hard or not, he hasn't produced and because of that, the Yankees haven't been able to overcome their playoff drought. A-Rod doesn't lose playoff games but he sure as heck didn't help them win. I hope this year he breaks out of it and produces.
Reason why ARod can't hit in the playoffs: The pitching is better. ARod is still way too much of a free swinger, which is fine vs. mediocre pitching. But, once you get to the playoffs, most of the pitchers are past masters at abusing a hitter's weaknesses. ARod's main weakness is that he swings at just about everything, making him easier to pitch to. ARod will break out of his post-season slump when he starts taking lessons from someone like Jeter, who is great at working the pitchers and forcing them to give you something to hit.
OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

The Angels will oust the Yankees from the playoffs again.
Too bad the Angels had to play Boston in the playoffs and not the Yanks last season. =P
If the Yanks make it that far? I think pitching is going to kill them down the stretch...
Rivera is old, and unless the kids come through, their starting pitching is old and crappy.

Rivera can be old as he wants, still the best closer in the game. There pitching isn't that old anyway, with Joba and there phillips whoes a stud. Wung or w'e his name is is also solid and not old. There hitting is one of the best from top to bottom also, they have a chip on their shoulder this yr and will take it all the way to title
Wang is the only young proven starter they have. Joba and Phillips are two of the unprovens I was talking about.
Their hitting is the best in baseball. Pitching wins titles. Mussina is done. Pettitte can't stay healthy anymore. So, it comes down to the kids, Joba and Phillips, just as I said.
Rivera may not be the best any more, but he is still one of the best. Problem is, Yankees don't have anyone to get it to him. Their offense will beat up the bad pitching staffs as usual, but pitching wins in the playoffs. Angels, Boston, Clev, and Det all have better pitching. Yankees will be lucky to make it past the first round.
OK, Ellis is a bit above average.
