Running Back to take in next year's draft?

It's a ways off, I know. But I have to post more. I don't like being a redshirted freshman. I need to make a better selection at RB than last year. I hate to say it...I had to take Shaun Alexander. I never liked him, but I was thinking 'former MVP with a big role in a playoff team' gotta do it, he's there. I cut him and picked up Selvin Young 1/2 way through.

With all the RB's coming in the draft, and the way Peterson played - do you take a promising rookie RB or do you take someone like LT or Peterson?

    Remember December.

Depends on the format of your league.  To me, there are really only 4 players that deserve any consideration for the top 4 spots in any league at this moment:  LT, AD, SJ, BW.  You'd have to wait until after the draft to see how any rookies will fit into rankings.

If you are in a keeper league, then the younger backs provide more value.  Here is where you'd take AD, as he'll provide you with great statistics for many years to come.  A player such as LT will give you a few more years and then start to trail off.  You'll have to watch where the rookies end up before just picking them outright.  However, in the right situation (Detroit, Chicago) they could very easily put up very good numbers this year.  More likely they'll get carries eaten by the guy that is currently there until they beat that guy out and he leaves in FA.  Better long term, not as good in the short term.

If you are in a PPR (point per reception), then you have to look at Steven Jackson, LT, Westbrook, Bush types.  Generally in the PPR leagues, you tend to make up for the lost yards with sheer reception numbers.  In this format, your ranking probably goes Tomlinson, Jackson, Westbrook, Peterson as your top four.

If you are in a traditional league (no keepers, no PPR), you probably stick with the order: Tomlinson, Peterson, Jackson, Westbrook.  Tomlinson gets the edge over Peterson because of Chester Taylor.  Peterson will have someone there to steal carries while it is the LT show in San Diego.  Jackson and Westbrook could very easily have #1 player stats but there is just a tiny bit lower chance for them.

This is the worst offseason since we had 0 1st round picks and took Quincy Carter in the 2nd round.

Who is going the top runningback we can get next year with the #26 pick in the draft?
