No Country, There Will Be Blood.
Saw No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood on back to back nights.
NCFOM was dark.
There Will Be Blood is even darker. When I saw who wrote the book TWEB was based on, I sat back on the couch and first thing I thought "Well that ****ing figures." If you've ever read any of Upton Sinclair's work, you'll recognize his hand crafting of this story.
Both are excellent in my mind, and Daniel Day-Lewis is a master of his art.

Hello Sir! I don't think we've "met" on here! Well I keep hearing these are good flicks, guess I'll read some more comments to make me go rent it.

No Country was excellent!!! I really liked it.
I didn't like Blood as much as the rest of the country did. I found it to be slow, boring, and overrated. Daniel Day Lewis was excellent in it, though.
I'm glad i watched both of them, and i think they were both definitely worth the rental, but i had VERY high expectations for Blood going into it, and it just didn't meet them, whereas, No Country lived up to the hype.

The one where Tommy Lee Jones is talking about his dreams he had, I guess I kind of get it. I just didn't think the ending fit I guess. |

Re: No Country, There Will Be Blood.
Yeah, that ending could have been better.
I really liked the ending of There Will Be. You have to remember the talk he had with his brother about wanting to make enough money to leave all of mankind behind. In the end, he had finally severed all ties with his past and could be happy alone with his hatred of mankind.

The ending of Country was just really odd. The whole scene with the Old Man, and then the ending. It just didn't do justice to the rest of the film. But it was still good. Anton Chugurh was a beast.
Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the "Pick Three"!!! Ray Rice, James Hardy, and Chris Johnson!!!!!!!!!

Re: No Country, There Will Be Blood.
There Will Be Blood SUCKED in my opinion. Every scene was drawn out beyond anything sane. It could have been a great movie, but the dialogue was terribly weak, the movie was way too long, and the score and underlying 'music' (it wasn't really music at all) was terrible and unusually placed. Whoever made this movie should be beaten with a waterhose.

That about sums it up. It wasn't the money involved in renting it. It was the 2+ hours I can't get back.
