Were we given our day in the Sun??? Do the cowboys have a legitimate chance to get back to the hosting of yet another first round bye in the playoffs, with the team we have now???
They say "defenses win super bowls" I say 'offenses put you in a place to win it'...

Re: did our day pass us by?
I don't know if it did or not, if we don't do it this year, I'm afraid it will have passed. We have too many contracts coming up soon and I'm afraid we're going to lose some key talent with the way the team is run. The window to win w/ the cap if you don't play your cards right is short if you don't seize the opportunity it'll pass you by real quick.

Re: did our day pass us by?
Well if we can't do it with the dead weight we just unloaded, the veteran talent we have and the young talent we just picked up and the coaches we just hired then the last-gasp final option will be a new head coach. After that then I guess the Cowboys and us fans will just have to accept our role as the laughing stock of the NFL for a LONG time to come.
Don't settle for grilling. Make it real BBQ!

Re: did our day pass us by?
No way has the day passed us by. We went into the Giant's playoff game not ready to play, all do to lack of preparation, and still could of won the game if Crayton would of completed his route. The 2008 team should be better then the 2007 team. HOPEFULLY we learned a lesson in that game, and this year we step up and take it all. This is going to be one of the most talented rosters in the NFL, but if your not properly prepared it doesn't matter what you have on the field. The coaching will determine where we end up, because we have the talent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Be who you are and say what you feel...Because those that matter...Don't mine...and those that mind...Don't matter

Re: did our day pass us by?
We had the talent last year and feel short. Obviously our weaknesses showed. We did get rid of some dead weight and added good talent to close up the weaknesses. How much more do we need to get there. A 13-4 team on the rise. What do we need to go 16-0 to prove we are a better team. That would be lovely but stretching it a bit. We started out strong and finished weak. A poor December and then a playoff loss. That is what really is going to decide if we had our day in the sun is a strong December and going strong in the playoffs. I have no reason to think we will have another December meltdown and if history is an indicator then history only goes back the last 2 years for this current team. If we can break this jinx, then I say we can win in the playoffs against our conference opponents and then our non-conference opponent. So, I say no, our day in the sun did not pass us by. I would love to be strong enough to host the playoffs in Texas stadium being it is our final year for this but I just want to be good enough to be in the playoffs and have a strong December go into January strong.

Re: did our day pass us by?
I agree with most of what you're saying. I don't think our poor play in December should be labled a "jinx" however. I think it's an over-confidence issue personally. That needs to be addressed and undone by the coaching staff. Question is, can Wade and Jason get the team to perform like they need to to not just win in December, but smoke other teams we are supposed to be better than and carry that confidence into the playoffs. If that happens, there is no reason we shouldn't be the team to beat in the NFC for the next several years.

Re: did our day pass us by?
I think we became complacent late in the season. I blame most on the coaches for not 'game planning' a little more. When you have a great record and ARE the Cowboys, teams are gonna come gunning for us. I do believe our early season success did hurt us. But by that I think it has made us a better all around team for this year. Now all the players and coaches shouldn't fall into that same trap again and prepare like it was a playoff game every week. Plus even with just the changes in our secondary is gonna make all the difference in the world. If Roy W. somehow gets re-incarnated and can get his act together (doubtful) if not make a change to someone who can. I dont think we will have teams score on us as much this year. Our D is gonna be alot better. And I have high hopes for the new Offensive additions. We needed more weapons than Romo, Witten, Barber, and TO. last year. Now I think we have some firepower. So why not a deep play-off run ? I don't see what could stop us. Our day is NOW !
DOMINATE IN 08 !!!!!!
Go 'Boys !!!!

Re: did our day pass us by?
No, but if we don't step up post-Thanksgiving it will. This is our last big chance the get to the SB- after this year we'll have peaked and started to decline. Our D should be much better, and our O should at least be at par w/ last year barring no injuries. THIS IS OUR YEAR WE'VE GOT THE TALENT AND THE COACHES TO BRING HOME A LOMBARDI. NO EXCUSES because this is our Last Big Chance
Living in Jersey, Giants fans may say, "Why root for Dallas? Root for the hometown Giants!" To this, the proper response is: "I do root for the home team. I live in America, and I root for America's team!"

Re: did our day pass us by?
OK, let's get this straight. We build a team from the ground up w/ loads of young talent. Our first good year we were 9-7 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. Understandable. The 2nd year of our prosperity we have an awesome year and go 13-3, earning a 1st round bye. But, we lose in the first round to the eventual Super Bowl champs. Barely. We have two first round picks and add some major potential and we're........done? Did the beginner of this thread actually go past using one brain cell before posting this? Don't forget, we also added a top 10 CB and one of the best punt returners in the game.....for a 4th round pick. If he plays. If not, we get the pick back. Yes, he's an idiot. A talented idiot. And don't forget, we also added a quality DL(Tank) who has now had time to acclimate and get in football shape. Our QB was the highest rated in the NFC, and probowlers sprinkle the roster. And we added more talent. And we're done?
I hope you never have to face any hardships in life. You'd obviously give up.
