I agree Couch Coach,  I think it is only an upgrade if you believe Felix Jones is better than Julius Jones.  Otherwise it is a break even if you are going to say that you are upgrading last year's 13-3 team that Julius was a part of last year.  I will also agree that Jenkins was the best player available at that pick.

Reality is we don't know how good they are going to be right now.  Many people didn't think Emmitt was a HOF player.  He had some of the same criticisms that the kid out of GT has.  "He doesn't have break away speed."

Gman, the speed issue has been overplayed for too long. I remember Brandt's comments about Emmitt. If he's too slow, how come you don't see him getting caught from behind? Choice does have a little of that Emmitt making the move in the hole which Parcells said was his best advantage. I think Felix will be an upgrade over Julius if just for vision alone but the only credit I give to Julius was the threat he posed to keep the D honest, a threat he didn't deliver on the last two seasons. The change of teams will benefit us and him.

    Coach,

Julius didn't deliver because he could be tackled by a blade of grass. I will agree speed was not the issue.  That is why I am not celebrating the fact that Felix Jones is fast.   I edited my previous post.  I went ahead and graded the selections.  Go back and see what you think.

I think they had a pretty good draft, but really, its always too early to tell just after.  We'll have to wait and see if Jones over Mendehall was a mistake, but I don't think it was, Felix is very solid.  They had to error on the side of caution there anyway.  They got the CB's that were needed.  I don't know who they could have taken in those two first round spots to make it considerably better??  I also cant wait to see Tashard Choice, don't be surpised if he gives Jones a good bit of competition to be the 2nd back....I think he's better than where he went in the draft.

    Mr.Pato:

Thanx bro, though if he is so good, why he wasn´t considered on the top corners at the draft?

Is it because of his character issues?

I think he was the 3rd corner taken.  But yeah, the only knock on him was his character issues.  In fact he was considered the 2nd best CB in the draft before Cromartie had a ridiculous Combine.   But that's why he was a steal at 25.

What off the field issues has Jenkins had? I knew Talib had them but I hadn't heard that about Jenkins.

NFL.COM "During 2007 spring camp, Jenkins was arrested for misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence after a fight erupted outside a bar he was attending a party for former USF linebacker Stephen Nicholas. Despite not being violent, police used a taser Jenkins and he was briefly suspended from the team."

Hey, he and Pacman can double date. I don't get the fight without violence thing. What did they do, call each other naughty names? What in the hell is it with cops using tasers on people if they're not violent. After I got through shaking my teeth loose and pooping in my pants, I would be violent. Give 'em toys, they're gonna play with them.

Kiper said we got a steal there and he's a complete back. We'll have a depth chart but I think Felix and Tashard will both get a lot of plays and ne more like 2a and b. Phillips said they're looking forward to getting Felix in with Barber. Looks like some fun end arounds, screens and flat passes. The other Ds will have to devote a CB to Felix, he'd school a LB or Safety. How many good corners do you think our opponents have got? The Eagles have 3 good ones but that's about it (and we'll have 4 good ones). Some interesting matchups coming if they're going to use him like the Saints used Bush when McAlister was healthy? No fun preparing for that and they used that damn FB against us when we covered him. It is too early to tell but I really like the way our arsenal is shaping up. WE got some big guns and some fast ones.

Yea, it is kind of interesting; these CBs that all have "off-the-field-issues" its a wonder that you can find any that are model citizens--which is why I would hate to see TNew go. Get this from NFL.com : "Pick Analysis: Scandrick was a three-year starter at Boise State but has major character concerns. His off-the-field issues hurt his draft stock and he will need to get those issues squared away once he gets to the NFL."  Sounds like TNew will have to be the designated driver.

Man I'm ready for Football season...

We were already a solid team, now we are much tighter in certain positions. We picked up some immediate on the field constributors and our defense will be number one this year. If our WR's can catch the ball this year and Romo stays focused, we will be very dominant and once again take our division and perhaps the NFC again.

What we do with it after that, who know. The playoffs lately seems to be were we peter out and it is our achilles heel.

To add to this, it really shouldn't surprise anyone, because of all positions on the field a guy has to be a bit wacky to play CB. "No guts, no glory" is their motto...on an island and really they do not get the recognition but they get a lot of criticism. Strange... no wonder...

    Re: 2008 NFL Draft Recap:

You know, I think Jones likes to take the people that have off-the-field issues.  They are usually later in the day, but can be more athletic than those earlier in the draft.  This will be a great year for the cowboys.  I think all these kids coming into the league that have off-the-field issues couldn't be on any better team than Amercia's Team especially when we just came off a 13-3 season.  I would be more than excited to be a rookie coming into a team like this.  Hopefully that will keep these guys from messing up.

I also think Michael Jenkins' deal is a little blown out of proportion.  He could have been trying to plea his case or anything else to a cop and the cop could've taken it the wrong way.  I almost went to jail for telling a cop that he should try finding the guy that's starting fights in this bar I go to instead of worrying about me peeing in the parking lot.  He nearly took me to jail for that.  It's all about the cop and how much of a *** he can be.  Cops love to have the power to ruin someone elses life.

If I'm Calvin Hill, I'm asking for a raise or a taser. Can you get electronic ankle bracelets with the players' number on them? Think they'll make our rookies sit in a designated area with a keeper when they hold indoctrination? Do you think these morons realize how much of a signing bonus or guarantee it cost them falling in the draft? Think Pacman's figured out how many G strings are missing $5 bills because of his behavior? Now, we get a Pacman watch for this season after coming off a TO watch a year ago. How do Phillips and Stewart game plan for the D when they don't know if their #3, or worse #2, CB is going to get in trouble over any given weekend? I won't be watching the games, I'll be watching the stadium cops to see if they're coming to cuff him. Hey, you think we need a jail in our new place?

I give them an  (A)---based on the running backs and DB,s that we needed, mainly Jenkins and Pacman. I lost Julius--not much help for Barber.

Some do but I've met some good ones too. We're you in a Wal-Mart parking lot relieving yourself? I do that just because it's Wal-Mart. Hell, the Wal-Mart cops pee with me. If we didn't do that, how would the cigarette butts get put out? Performing a public service we are and he had the audacity to threaten temporary incarceration. The media loves the off the field stuff and I'm not sure what a "character issue' is any more. We need a list of deeds that fall into that category. If I had been caught doing half the crap I did in college just being a fratass, I'd probably be coaching the prison football team today. And screw that 3/4, got too many bigass D linemen in the big house to be playing that girly D.

Hey Jim, we got us a Hog, dern good'un too. Did you see what happened with Hillis or Monk? I lost interest early on and figured we'd have 3 players this draft and 19 next year the way Jerry was trading.
