Your five most disappointing Cowboys' moments?

    Here are mine:

     1. Dallas vs. SF, 1981 NFC Championship game.  Not only do we play prevent defense and allow the Niners to score on "The Catch", but Drew Pearson fails to break away and score the winning TD thereafter for want of a tearaway jersey, and then Danny White is sacked and fumbles.

    2. Jimmy Johnson "resigns", 1994.  Shocking and deflating.

    3. Dallas vs. Philadelphia, 1980 NFC Championship game.  We lost the division and home field advantage via the "points in the division" tiebreaker.  We needed to beat the Eagles by 25 in the last game of the season to take the East, and we actually led 35-10 at one point, but Philly staged a comeback and the final was 35-27.  Then we go to Philadelphia for the championship game, get skunked on offense, and let Wilbert Montgomery run wild.

    4. Dallas vs. San Francisco, 1994 NFC Championship game.  Unthinkable turnovers lead to a 21-0 deficit within the first ten minutes or so, and a valiant comeback attempt falls short.  Goodbye threepeat.

    5. Dallas vs. Los Angeles Rams, 1979 NFC Divisional playoff game.  An up and down regular season ended on a high note with Staubach's comeback against the 'Skins, but the defense couldn't hold the lead vs. the Rams and Staubach rode off into the sunset.

    1. Baltimore's last second FG to beat the 'Boys in Super Bowl V.

    2. The catch.  Nauseating.

    3. Jackie Smith's drop against the Steelers in whichever Super Bowl it was.

    4. Tom Landry being fired unceremoniously when JJ bought the team.

    5. Romo's fumbled FG snap against the Seahawks in the '06 playoffs.

     No order really.

The sucky seasons. Then that year where we beat Tampa in the thanksgiving game and me looking at our record thinking... we might make the playoffs. I was born in 89 and really all I knew growing up was the Triplets and winning...

Watching Tony throw that last int last year in the Giants game. I was standing up and pacing in front of my tv whispering "We got this" and that throw made me drop to my knees and tear up.

The Bills game last year... before we started coming back. That is by far my favorite game I have ever watched.

The Redskins game last year in week 17... No heart and it really ruined a great day. (Went to go see the Falcons beat the Seachickens with a group of friends).

Wondering why Emmit wasnt my half back one year in Madden and asking "Who the hell is this hambrick guy?"

Re: Your five most disappointing Cowboys' moments?

Nothing will ever bug me as much as the playoff losses to Cleveland in 1968 and 1969. After that, the Baltimore loss in the Super Bowl. The Cleveland losses hurt because we weren't even competitive. The loss to the 49ers in 94 when Aikman was leading a brilliant comeback and Switzer got flagged for 15 yards for unsportsmanlike because he wouldn't keep his mouth shut is probably number 4. Seeing Staubach retire was number 5, but he made the right move. He'd had several concussions, and didn't want to permanently injure himself.

Flipping that, the win against the 49ers in 1972, Staubach's first big time comeback was the best. The Cowboys were down 28-16 with two minutes left. Staubach completed a TD pass to Billy Parks, then Tony Fritsche made an onside kick behind his back and Mel Renfro recovered it. Staubach fired a pass to Ron Sellers and the Cowboys won 30-28. That was when Staubach got nicknamed Captain Comeback.

The victory against the Redskins in Staubach's final season was number 2. Once again, Staubach brought the Cowboys back in the final seconds. The sweetest part was the Redskins went into the game thinking they were assured of the playoffs. If they won, they were division champs. If they lost, they were the wild card unless Chicago beat St. Louis by something like thirty points. Chicago DID, and the Skins got back to their locker room after blowing a 17 point lead and found out they were OUT. This was the game with the infamous funeral wreath.

Third was the 1992 NFL title game, when Troy and Emitt started the 90's dynasty. That was the game that started the catch phrase "How bout them Cowboys!" when Jimmy Johnson shouted it in the locker room.

The fourth was the Buffalo game this year. 58 minutes of agony followed by two minutes of utter ecstasy.

The fifth was the first Super Bowl victory. It would have been number 1, but the game itself wasn't exciting, as the Cowboys killed the Dolphins. I loved it, though, seeing Tom, Lilly, Jethro Pugh (btw guys, Jethro was a WRECKING BALL) Mel Renfro, Dan Reeves and all the other guys that had suffered through the two losses to Green Bay, the blowouts at Cleveland in 1968 and 1969, the loss to Baltimore the previous year get their rings. Mike Ditka and Lance Alworth also got their player Super Bowl rings on that team.

Good thread, but let's remember guys, as Cowboys fans, we've got a lot more happy memories than fans of most teams. Also, I'm not knocking winning the Super Bowl, but you've gotta enjoy the games. Most of my favorite memories weren't from Super Bowls. I could have also listed the Hail Mary, the Thanksgiving day when Clint "the mad bomber" beat the Redskins, or any of a dozen other great games.

The Seattle playoff loss. We've got TO, Romo, Glenn and a host of others going against a safety that was originating loans the week before. I could not have been more confident going into that game that we had a win on our hands. Only afterwards did I realize how much BILL PARCELLS SUCKS ****.  Every time the weather changes the bones in my right hand and wrist start to hurt thanks to that game. Friggin granite.

The Monday Night loss to the Redskins when Roy got exposed like a streaker in a spotlight. Oh, that was a hard loss to take.

1994 NFC Championship game. I don't think I could watch that even today without wanting to punch a wall. San Fran cheats against the salary cap, Deion get away with a HUGE pass interference call, Switzer, Emmitt's fumbles, ef it already getting pissed thinking about it.

January of 2008, Patrick Crayton's clone decides to be the dog's ass the sun won't shine on.

That's enough for now. I'm going to throw the Buffalo DVD in and laugh my ass off for the last two minutes of the game.

i have only been a fan for about a year so my most dissapointing moment was the giant game. I stayed up really late to watch it and i thought we were going to win right untill the interception was thrown.

Yea... it was after the Bills game where we could have been down by 2 tds with 2 min to go and I would be like... Tony so has this...

My best friend and I were watching the Lions game (his first football game to watch) and the whole time he was like "Yall don't have a chance." "Yes we do." And Witten made that mistake, he starts saying I told you so then we come back and score... That shut him up and hes been a Cowboy fan since.

Then you go to the Giants game and its like... we got this. We got the ball. We got this...

    No? Jeeze.
