    Ellis: Roy doesn't think defense fits him

    Greg Ellis made some pretty interesting statements about Roy Williams during an appearance on Sirius NFL Radio this afternoon. Ellis said that Williams doesn't feel like he fits in Wade Phillips' scheme and has been isolating himself from teammates.

    Ellis said Williams first expressed concerns about the Phillips 3-4 during training camp in San Antonio.

    "He said, 'Greg, this defense does not fit me. I don't fit in well with this defense at all,'" Ellis said. "So when he told me that, I was like, 'Well, man, it's still new. Get used to it and it'll probably be fine for you.'" And obviously I think it came to be true. Just like he said, he doesn't fit what's going on here in Dallas right now.

    "Now maybe this year, if they decide to keep him for this season, Wade and them will kind of adjust some things to fit him better."

    Um, Greg, Wade and them did adjust some things to fit Williams better last season. He put him closer to the line of scrimmage in obvious passing situations so he wouldn't be toasted for big play after big play, like he was in Bill Parcells' scheme. Williams recently said on Michael Irvin's radio show that he needs more time to get comfortable with Phillips' scheme

    Ellis went on to say that he was bothered by the way Williams has isolated himself from his teammates. He said Williams is still working out at Valley Ranch, but he's leaving the facility by 7:30 a.m., so he's not spending any time with his teammates.

    Ellis said he thinks Williams wants to stay in Dallas, but it's just a bad football fit.

    This and the don't throw my way comments and I am 100% unenamored with Roy.

    Well the deacon has one step out the door.. How can a safety not fit in a defensive scheme? Weird and retarded.. I already gave up on him 1.5 years ago but now he's starting to irritate me.

    Wow.. it's sad when a safety doesn't fit the defensive scheme?? I'm glad a player is speaking up on this issue!!!

    On a team with personalities like T.O., Crayton, Pacman, and Tank...Who would've guessed it would be Roy Williams causing the controversy!?!  I really wish there was a way to rid ourselves of this very unproductive, overpaid, liability that he has become.  He might be the nicest person in the world, but he no longer needs to be in an NFL uniform...At least not in ours!

    Almost impossible, his contract is rediculous, no team would want to pay him for that much and also he SUCKS

    What scheme does RW fit in?  He can't play WP's 3-4 or Parcells version.  He'd be even worse in the cover two.  His only hope is to play with a group of lb's that can cover the te and rb's without Roy's help.  

     

    I actually defended the guy last year.  That's when I believed he still wanted to play football.

    He doesn't fit into Wade's 34 and he sure didn't fit into Big Bill's 34.  I think he is only going to be productive if he goes to a team like Indy, Tampa, or the Lions and plays LB. 

    BREAKING NEWS ROY WILLIAMS......If you are a saftey you have to cover a TE or RB sometimes.

    Ellis may have been one of the few to actually speak-out on Roy's "situation" or "personality" to the media, but he is definitely not the first to express a poor opinion of what type of spoiled-sport Roy is (behind the scenes)... a friend of mine back in my hometown of Houston is connected with the Texans organization (promotional department).  He's pretty good friends with Demarcus Faggins, who is still really good friends with Aaron Glenn.  I remember last year sometime when my friend told me that Aaron talked very poorly of Roy to Demarcus (about his time spent with him as a teammate in Dallas) and how he was always immature when it came to accepting fault.  Roy = stubborn.

    I think the truth is just starting to have a little more light shine on it... finally.

    Respect, what has he done. Brought Raider ball to the Cowboys. Where they are taking  them off the field and to the trainers room. Did not i hear that he was even so shameful to bring God into this also. That because of  his love for God, and not to hurt anyone he will not lay them out. He will be like Duane Thomas, to smart for anyone around him. And too stupid and stubborn, to adapt. Respect this.

    Roy really needs to go!!! It sucks that his contract won't allow that, but maybe Jerry could take the hit after June 1st?!
