i've wondered about this for a long time.

one thing has always confused me. since Dallas, Texas is in the southern part of the country, why are they in the NFC East? i mean shouldnt they be in the NFC South and the Carolina Panthers a part of the East instead? i know it sounds weird, but its always confused me.

The NFL hates us and wants us in the hardest division possible. I mean, can you imagine how good we would seem if we got to beat up on the Buccanears, Saints, and Falcons 2x a year?

Living in Jersey, Giants fans may say, "Why root for Dallas? Root for the hometown Giants!" To this, the proper response is: "I do root for the home team. I live in America, and I root for America's team!"

initially when they came in the league, it was to balance the divisions, When re-alignment came in 2002ish they kept them in the east because of rivalries.

Smart post.  And no, it's not a conspiracy, as someone suggested.  Division strength changes over time.  Whoever suggested the conspiracy thing must not have been a fan for long, because it wasn't too long ago that the division sucked and they were calling it the NFC Least.
OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

its weird tho u know? i can understand the reasoning, but when they say NFC East and the Cowboys on that list im like, they obviously dont know much about geography since Dallas is in the southern portion of the country. hehehe.

It would rock if they were in the NFC south... have Dallas come down to the ATL once a year >:D

Omg... I would nut myself. Alas... we have to keep beating up on the Skins, Giants, and Eagles.

Oh come on... the divisions change a lot, and that is just how it happens to be now. Think about the times when we dominated the division every year. It just happens to be hard now.

What are arguably the three most "American" cities? - New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. So they wanted to add to those three America's Team. It fits.

Still waiting to see any sports team I'm a fan of win a championship. Still waiting. STILL WAITING.

Yup.  I remember when the Cardinals were in our division!  That rivalry is still huge.

Not at area 51.  It's just a cover now.  The real place has been moved somewhere to Utah.  My tin foil hat used to keep them at bay but with them moving closer this way it's not protecting me like it used to.  Oh no! someone is knocking at the door.  Men in hats...I got to go..
