I'm not particularly fond of "fans" that bash our own players.  As human beings we all have our challenges and room for improvement, no matter our position in life.  Personally, I think Parcells tried to turn both Julius Jones and Roy Williams into something they're not. Let's support Roy in his effort to make a fresh start this year and cheer him on.  The mob, "tear them down" mentality is something I think is better left to lesser fans.

If only Detroit would part with him he would be a great addition to our wide reciever corp

Howdy. Well I read through several of the locked posts about Roy the Safety. (several may find that an errant definition) However, I think Roy can play, he just needs to relax, let everything slide off his back and play. I think when the pressure is off and he can focus is when he is at his best. When he has to think and feels the weight of the fans and all he struggles. This is common with many athletes.  Roy just needs to find his way of dealing with it and not pushing it all off on other issues. I think he did well with Woodson back there and when Darren left is when the problems began. If Hamlin is happy with his contract that could bring peace to the galaxy and restore balance to the force… (Whoops.. too much Jedi training this week)

Heres to hoping that Roy will improve so his Madden rating will stay sick and so we don't have to blow a first rounder on a SS next year...

Who led the Dallas Cowboys in solo tackles last season? Who made his 5th Pro bowl in 6 seasons? Who's broken more bones than any other player in the NFL?

You know, I have been one of the BIGGEST ROY WILLIAMS supports around but eventually you are what you are...  All those things above are true but what has Roy done lately?  He made the pro bowl cause the starter and back up for the pro bowl weren't available (you know why!!!).  Led the team in Solo tackles yes, were did he  make those tackles???  No where near the L.O.S. were he is supposed to be this great players and were this defense wants him making plays filling the open gap...  Whose bones has the man broke lately that weren't HORSE COLLAR TACKLES???  Theres a reason why teams went out of their way to get ROY in man to man coverage...  They know he can't cover my two year old daughter!

This is what bothers me... Roy himself MADE THE PROCLIMATION that once BP was gone and this new system he WOULD BE BACK TO HIS OLD WAYS and be a factor again...  HE FAILED THIS PAST season and finally it has to be ROY that takes responsiblity!!!

This is the difference... ROMO screwed up in Seattle in the PLAYOFFS and came right out and gave the "It's My Fault speech!"  Roy gets burned and it's the MEDIA!!!  Chris Rock would love this guy....

No matter how much you don't like him. Mickey says it best.

Mickey: Boy, it's amazing how most of you have done a one-eighty on Roy. Why, it was just two seasons ago many of you guys piled on me for criticizing the "Pro Bowl" safety before the season began, and now I see the tune seems to be changing. Sorry, but I find it hard to believe a "safety" is having a hard time fitting into a 3-4 defense. I mean, I was told to make the 3-4 work against the run had a heavy dependency on the safety filling the one unprotected gap. And I thought that was Roy's strength, supporting the run, right? Now he doesn't fit in? If you know what to do, you fit in, and as I've been saying, half the battle at safety is being prepared, so you can anticipate what's coming. I have far less problem with Williams getting beat in man coverage than I do with him not being where he is supposed to be while over the top in zone or Cover 2. That's what irks me.

Mickey: You know, as I said, I agree with that. Guys are going to get beat in man coverage, and if safeties were such good one-on-one coverage guys they'd be cornerbacks. But again, what Williams needs to improve on are his reads and tackling at the line of scrimmage. No more ole'-ing with the limp shoulder or not fighting through the lead blocker to get to the ball carrier. That's what hurts most.

I think somewhere he mentioned about the Safties Witten has burnt.

I'll say I have been a Roy fan for his entire pro career and yet I have also become disappointed in his play over the past few seasons.

I am not suggesting it (because it has been suggested many times before) but the argument to move him to LB intrigues me on this level. Many have said he is too small to play LB yet he is taller and as big as Zach and according to the roster he is but 3 inches shorter and 2 lbs lighter than Burnett. Just questioning the size thing, obviously he would still have to cover people during pass plays and he has had quite a problem with that of recent years.

I am disappointed but as long as he wears the Star I will cheer him on with hope he will once again play well.

    I've fallen and I can't get up !!

One problem with Roy in coverage is his lack of speed to go with his 6 foot frame.  Even Henry is 6'2 so he has a good chance of being able to bat the ball away.  Not to mention he's a down hill runner, get him going one direction, go another way and he's screwed because he has almost no recovery speed to compensate.

How many big plays did he give up last season? Would people be bringing up Roy if he was making Keith Davis type money?

He was the 8th pick in his draft, a 5 time Pro Bowler and a highly paid starter, I expect a lot more out of him than we get.

yup 5 Pro Bowls in 6 years shouldn't satisfy most fans.Stick out tongue I'm one of Roy's biggest supporters, and I'm also one of his biggest critics. He just needs to keep running, lay off the weights, do that water training, and get back to being aggresive and attacking the line.

He didnt give up many cause he was taken out on 3rd downs, and when he had to cover Shockey in NY - Shockey had him for lunch. Stop it already - the guy can't cover - is the whole world wrong, even he himself admits it. And no- ppl wouldn't care if he made Keith Davis money cause then we could just cut him.
