Albert Breer Bio --> E-mail News tips
All day long, the Worldwide Leader has been
flexing its considerable muscle -- through television, radio and the
internet -- to promote its first set of power rankings for the 2008 season.
In doing so, the network had its analysts break down the list. One
of the questions posed to them was "who is overrated?" You're not going
to like former Buckeye great Cris Carter's answer.
"I think the Cowboys have a huge problem, and that is with character
in the locker room," Carter said. "If the Cowboys season goes well,
it's not going to be because of Pacman (Jones) transaction. It going to
be because of another transaction that got little headlines, that's in
Zach Thomas, because you need character to go with these characters on
the field.
"He's gonna be some glue to keep some of those guys steady and
focused towards the end of the season, when we have known the Dallas
Cowboys to lose their foucs."
Just as that was said, someone chimed in with ... "13 wins, 13 Pro
Bowl players, zero playoffs." Although just who it was escapes me right
know.
Carter just reiterated his point on Sportscenter.
When asked the same question, he quickly said, "The Dallas Cowboys.
The 'Boys. Thirteen Pro Bowls, 13 wins during the regular season. But
also in the last two years, zero playoff wins. And my thing is people
talk about Pacman joining this team, this circus, the most popular
team, America's Team. But I concerned about the characters.
"And I believe the biggest transaction that was made this offseason
was Zach Thomas because you need a character with some glue around
these other characters down in Dallas."
So he feels pretty strongly about Pacman, Zach and glue.
Also, I'd like to applaud Mark Schlereth, who in a short explanation
of why he ranks the Chargers No. 1 found a way to shoehorn the term
"football team" in four times. Very impressive. You're just mad you never won a ring, has-been!

Good, hopefully they'll all rip us and they can stand in line to say they were wrong when we get our rings!
I hope it bothers the players as much as it bothers the fans when everyone talks smack about the Boys.

Re: Cris Carter slams Dallas
Has Pacman EVER had a problem inside an NFL stadium. His problem is once he leaves for the day he dosent know what to do. So even if Pacman messes up again I don't see it affecting the team as a whole. If he does screw up I think that Jerry should BAN all media outlets from the locker room for a few weeks. To teach them access to the Dallas Cowboys is a honor not a right. The players should walk away from interviews that focus on non-team related activities. I mean thats how the whole TO & Jessica incident started. When questions like that are asked the apporpiate response is "Next, Question!" or walk away. That is how you maintain character in a locker room. By not letting the characters define what everyone elses character is.
Constantly Changing, but still the same.

Wonder when the Power Rankings come out for the Has-Been-Ex-Player-Talking-Heads?
Carter must feel he is slipping too far behind the rest of the H-B-E-P-T-H's before training camps start. Instead of taking the cheap points by bashing the Cowboys, he should consider tossing live turkeys out of a helicopter.

Oh yeah... we've got some real character disasters going on here. Gimme a break. Tank chose to stretch his Second Amendment rights a bit too far, but from all indications he is not a locker room cancer. Pacman is the only one who you can tell from the outside is an arrogant, potential locker room cancer, but I think he'll be OK. Hell, I have a feeling the worst guy for chemistry in the locker room this year will be Roy Williams.
GEAUX LSU TIGERS!!!!! (And, of course, Go Cowboys also!!!)
JaMarcus Russell current contract (total cap hit)- 6 years, $61 million, $32 million guaranteed. ($10+ million/ year average) Adrian Peterson current contract (total cap hit)- 6 years, $40.5 million, $17 million guaranteed ($6.75 million/ year average)

Re: Cris Carter slams Dallas
Yeah, I remember when everyone said our locker room would crumble when we brought in T.O. I remember when they said that our locker room would crumble when we brought Tank Johnson in. I remember when they said our locker room would crumble during the Bledsoe-Romo controversy. I remember when they said our locker room would crumble during the Jones-Barber controversy. You might recall that we're talking about the Dallas Cowboys here. This team has always had spectacle surrounding it. There have always been members of the media mouthing off about us. There have always been other teams talking trash about us. There have always been "characters" on the team. There are always neon lights, big bucks, and marquee names flashing. That's what happens when you're the Dallas Cowboys. But guess what, we still have 5 rings and every major playoff record you can come up with. So maybe Cris Carter should remember that he's not talking about his little Minnesota Vikings, or any other silly team. Other teams couldn't handle all this spectacle at once and still find ways to win, but we can, because the Dallas Cowboys breathe in the chaos and they exhale championships. Discussion - over. Can I get a "Boom! Headshot!"???
Still waiting to see any sports team I'm a fan of win a championship. Still waiting. STILL WAITING.

That's funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. Good case of Pot and Kettle here.

Re: Cris Carter slams Dallas
I could care less what C Carter or anybody at bspn has to say about the Cowboys, but I do agree ZThomas should be a good influence for
this young team. Pacman, who knows but I dont think he will be much of a distraction. I do agree with Eagle Hater that if we have a
potential cancer in the locker room it's RW

Re: Cris Carter slams Dallas
Instead of a "power ranking" list for NFL teams, we should start up a weekly list of dumb @$$ rankings for all the sportscasters. For example, starting with the biggest dumb @$$:
1. Tom Jackson -- told everyone to mark his words that the Cowboys would self-destruct when they got T.O., and harped on it FOREVER
2. Chris Berman -- his weekly anti-Cowboy antics during the season are legendary (all you have to do to know if the Cowboys will win is look for him to pick against them!)
3. Cris Carter -- he's new to the game; just trying to get headlines by cheap-shotting the Cowboys
4. Keyshawn Johnson -- doesn't know his @$$ from a hole in the ground, 'nuff said.
I'm not saying my list is right, maybe someone's got a better list. These are just the guys that have pissed me off the most lately.
