Is there anyone out there worried about Barber and Hamlin not being here participating on-site? I mean I know other players don't participate, but I am a little concerned about Barber because a lot depends this year. If he plays like a major superstar do you think he's work the 60 million he's asking for? I mean in the near future we're going to have to get Newman, Canty, Hamiln and Ware all signed.

No.  Running backs are a dime a dozen.

Just about every team has a good running back.  Barber isn't even an everydown 4-quarter guy.  Really nice player, but more than replaceable if need be.

Ask the Chiefs if they regret dumping all that money on Larry Johnson.  Did the Giants miss Tiki?  Who's the "great" running back for New England? 

There aren't but one or two RBs worth that kind of money, and Barber sure isn't one of them.

No, he's not worth it.

I think he will be worth it one day... Not right now...  The same concept is being used with MBIII as the organization took with ROMO.  The unfortunate part of this is MBIII may never get wha the is worth since RB's can be found every where on the cheap!  That is the hang up by him and his agent.  No team may give up LT and LJ type numbers unless a top 5 type pick...

As for Hamilin, the Raiders deal w/Wilson probably means Hamlin only has one more season with the Cowboys.  Just can't pay that price OR MORE for a FS.

Nope. Even a good full time starter isn't worth that much. We saw what happens when you give him the ball the whole game. I don't think we should pay him 60 million for having only good first half of production (if he starts), or only a good second half of production (if he doesn't). 

Remember that any cap space we give away to him this year is cap space we can't give away to players like Newman, Owens and Hamlin next year.

 The Bob Sanders deal doesn't help either but no I love Barber and I don't think he's worth the money Rosenhaus is asking for, just hope these contract situations aren't too detrimental to our success as a team this year.

35-40 Million max 7-8 years or a 2 year deal 10-15 mil to see if he has it I think he dose but he needs to prove it

I will miss Barber when he's gone and actually that's why I think we should've taken a more complete back in the 1st round, hopefully I'm wrong about Felix Jones.

What I want to know is, what are you gonna do with 60 million that you can't do with 30 million !?  How can you spend it all?  If I had 30 mil my great great great great grandkids would be spoiled !

Paying one player a large chunk of a limited salary cap is lunacy.  This is a rough game and people are going to get hurt, making your bench extremely important.  Giving the starter all the money means if he gets hurt you are left w/ other team's retreads starting.  I'm not sure MBIII is worth the 30 mil reportedly offered.  Choice could easily be the starter in 09.

These are Running Backs better than Barber.... Barbers aint nuthin and you can get Running back at anytime

There might be a few rookies that come out that I think will outshine Barber.

 

Maybe Barry Sanders...maybe Eric Dickerson...maybe Emmitt Smith...in their heyday.  But as big a fan of Barber as I am....see my avatar...he has not proven that kind of worth.

The highlights that he gives us are worth about 60 million itself right there, but no i don't think he's worth that much but we all know jerry will pay him that much along with ware (who deserves it) and hamlin will get like a 45million deal

 I don't think he will get 60, but I do think he will get signed long term. Maybe something in the mid to high 40's. Just speculation on my part.
