These are Running Backs better than Barber.... Barbers aint nuthin and you can get Running back at anytime

    1. Ladanian Tomlinson

    2. Adrian Peterson

    3. Steven Jackson

    4. Larry Johnson (he had 1 bad year he's all KC's got of course he's going to have a bad year everyones after him)

    5. Fred Taylor

    6. Willie Parker

    7. Ronnie Brown

    8. Chester Taylor

    9. Brian Westbrook

    10. Deuce Mcallister

    11. Maurice Jones Drew

    12. Marshawn Lynch

There might be a few rookies that come out that I think will outshine Barber.

Ah, how the times have changed.  I got reamed making a list very similar to this one not too long ago.  Now, no one is even arguing w/ it.  I pretty much agree w/ your list, Swade, and would add Frank Gore, Clinton Portis(maybe), Willis McGahee, and maybe Michael Turner, who is highly regarded but also unproven.  Also, a healthy Rudi Johnson is a Barber clone, as is Brandon Jacobs.

Also, consider this.  If LT were given a 1-3 tender, I'm willing to bet someone would have given up the 1st and 3rd for him.  I heard of absolutely no interest from any team for Barber.

Ryan Grant is also at least as good, and there are several rooks coming in who could be as good or better.

MBIII has nearly ruined his image in BigD, and would have to hurry and sign/show up to even partially rectify the situation.  Funny how the wrong agent can really hurt you, and I think Rosy has really done MBIII a big disservice this time.

I coulda argued the list but the sheer ridiculousness didn't warrant a reply!

    Where to start......let's see....

Deuce McAllister, you would honestly trade MBIII this guy?  His days are numbered and how many knee injuries has the guy had now?

    Fred Taylor, another aging back!

Chester Taylor........just Quit!!!!!  I guess Ole boy who started this BS is from Toledo?

Maurice Jones Drew has about the same role with the Jags as MBIII has with the Boys......go compare their stats

Ronnie Brown....has he played a complete season yet???  Go look at his stats.....2005 907 yards!  2006 1008 yards on 241 carries!  2007 602 yards!  We got much better value for our 4th rounder!

LJ.....1 bad year!  Ha!  Can you say......NFL BACKS don't last too many years after getting 416 CARRIES!  He also lost Shields and Tony Richardson, I believe his best days are behind him.

Fast Willie has the luxury of beating up on the Browns and Bengals, and gets the bulk of the carries on a team known for RUNNING the ROCK

Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that MBIII is the best back in football, nor is he worth 40-50 mill......but the guy is much much better than given credit for, and I'd take him before half that list!

In the NFL there are diffent types of 60mil deals. Are we talkin Ricky WIlliams 60mil or Ladanian Tomlinson 60mil? He's not worth the LT 60mi with half guaranteed. Now if he want an incentive filled contract to make the figure look good, by all means.

I really don't understand what the problem is with the money. I thought it was a fair offer given the fact that he hasn't been a full-time starter. I mean how much money do you really need anyway? Pretty soon these players are going to find themselves sitting at home because these prices are going up just like gas. Pretty soon no one will be able to afford it. Especially, if you want a team with enough good players to make a good run at the Superbowl. It's ridiculous how most of these players go about this. I understand about securing your future, but with millions a year it's secure like a motherf------! The league should've put a non-changing base salary on every position with incentives for performance of that particular year. Maybe raise the base for time in the league. I mean these guys get to play a sport for millions and I just don't understand it.

No, Barber is not worth 60 million. No player for that matter. If anyone is worth that much then let's include the firefighters, policeman, teachers, and healthcare workers. They do more important things for our country than athletes. The league is letting the players and agents dictate. If I was commissioner and a player was giving their organization a hard time about money and they're getting paid decent money, I would just start taking the game away from them. One year suspension right off the bat and let them think about it because that's the one thing that they still care about. Then we will see how your contract looks now after one year. They would just shut up and play. Just like the trouble makers, take the game away from them and they start acting right. Well, most of them anyway. It's just a shame how it is now. Pretty soon the centers will be asking for 80 million. Money and greed has truly ruined sports.

Is there anyone out there worried about Barber and Hamlin not being here participating on-site? I mean I know other players don't participate, but I am a little concerned about Barber because a lot depends this year. If he plays like a major superstar do you think he's work the 60 million he's asking for? I mean in the near future we're going to have to get Newman, Canty, Hamiln and Ware all signed.

Well Emmitt held out a couple of times, including his rookie season so I can understand what Hamlin and MB3 are trying to do. But from a fan perspective it's disappointing to hear there not working out with the team. Then again it's not technically mandatory to be participating in the off season workouts right?

Let me note I'm ok with Felix Jones and Tashard Choice as our two backs if we can't get MB3 to sign. But I'd feel a hell of alot better with MB3 in there because Felix and Choice are unproven at this level.

    Here is the real ridiculousness:

A player who has 3 career NFL starts and has not carried the full load in a single game since high school is asking for as much, or more, money than one of the greatest running backs of all time in LaDainian Tomlinson got in his current deal.

This is ME laughing a YOU, Marion Barber and Drew Rosehaus.

Still waiting to see any sports team I'm a fan of win a championship. Still waiting. STILL WAITING.

It's sad to see rosenhaus screwing up another talented player.  Does Barber really need or deserve more than 30 mil? No.  He's ruining his good-guy, hero cult status with this BS. Just sign the deal, put another year of hard-hitting football behind you, then reap all sorts of endorsement deals. The longer this goes on, the more love and good will he destroys.  I understand it's business, but some things transcend "business".

Marion Barber is my favorite player currently on the team.  I like the way he runs and love watching him bowl over defenses.  Despite all of that I still don't believe he deserves $60 Million.  That's LaDainian Tomlinson-type of money.  Barber has never had to shoulder the entire load by himself and until he does I can't see any reason to justify him getting that much.  Anyone remember when Lamont Jordan was a Jet?  There was so much talk about how he would shine if he didn't have to play 2nd fiddle to Curtis Martin.  The Raiders gave Jordan a lot of money to be their guy and he proceeded to fall on his face Troy Hambrick style.  Now the Raiders have shown that Jordan's contract was a mistake by drafting Darren McFadden.  I say Barber would be stupid to sit out any time during the regular season.  Right now he's a good change-of-pace RB who has never had 1000 yards or been a fulltime starter.  I don't want to see him go, but it wouldn't be so horrible to see Tashard Choice or Felix Jones emerge to carry the load themselves.

absolutely not, paying that kind of money to someone can really come back to haunt a team for years to come.

Are you deaf, dumb, and blind?  Your obtuse nature is quite amusing.  If you had paid attention, you would realize that every rumor even slightly concerning the Cowboys is posted and discussed.  There were absolutely no rumors concerning interest in MBIII coming out of Ranch headquarters.  If a team had shown interest, would there have been some word?  Most likely, yes.

It's also interesting how you take a few phrases out of context to berate someone else.

I agree that we should not pay Barber 60 Million; however, I disagree that if we only have Choice and Jones we area just as good.  That is not true....  I believe, as I did last year, that we have a super bowl team.   We have two 35 year old WR's who will be gone after this year or next and we don't have any repalcements.  I am not ready to start over again...  missing two key positions RB and WR.  We need to get Barber signed as quikly and for as cheap as we can. Do what it takes, cause I am sick of watching other teams taking our trophy.  This has got to be our year...  get it done!!!

But he sure plays a mean pinball!   Okay... REALLY lame joke but I couldn't resist.

I don't totally agree with the list another user posted, but I do agree that Marion Barber isn't generating the attention that a LaDainian Tomlinson or Larry Johnson would have if they'd been tagged and a team would have had to give up a 1st and 3rd for them.  I think Barber is trying to play some kind of hardball.  I don't hate him for it.  I actually think it has more to do with Rosenhaus.  Barber may not be a superstar at this point in his career, but he is now one of the better known Cowboys.  If a team had interest in him we would have read something in a newspaper or on this very website.

Seriously, if other teams didn't think a 1st and 3rd were too much to give up then Parcells would have already made an offer.  The guy loves recycling his old players (hello Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe).

Parcells called Barber the closer, and with good reason.  Parcells, along with the rest of the NFL, is very aware of the fact that a closer is not worth a 1st and 3rd!  That point has been made abundantly clear because Barber still teters on the fence.

I will miss Barber when he's gone and actually that's why I think we should've taken a more complete back in the 1st round, hopefully I'm wrong about Felix Jones.

My views are well documented on this board.

I second this thought.   We made a tactical error in not drafting Mendenhall in the 1st and Jamaal Charles in the 3rd.

The assumption is that Felix Jones CAN'T be an every down back.   We don't know if that is true yet.   He simply wasn't asked to run the ball 25 times a game.  He very well MIGHT be able to do that for us.

I don't think it is a wise investment to sign Barber to a longer term deal - especially considering his running style.

Whats more, we COULD have drafted Allen Patrick, who I am a big fan of, despite me hating OU.  That guy is a horse that is going to be a star for the Ravens.

I think, I need to go work for Ozzy Newsome.  He drafts VERY MUCH the way I would.  Every year, some one that I am very high on, goes to Baltimore.  Every Year, they are contenders.

7th round.....SEVENTH ROUND!   Our scouts should be taken out back and shot for wasting Jerry's time and money.   You see those feet and that lean....THAT IS WHAT A RB SHOULD LOOK LIKE.

Jerry, drop me an email.  I can help and I'm not kidding even a little.

Think of Bobby Carpenter as money in your pocket. Now think of yourself as not a retard that needs to spend it immediately. Great!
