Trade for Chester Taylor (get rid of Barber)

    Locked Reply Contact

I think Barber will jeopradize our future if he actually is dumb enough to believe he's worth a 60mil deal I truthfully wouldnt even pay him 30.... I say we get a back with starting experience and is better than him like Chester Taylor and a 3rd round pick to the Vikings.... I can see the Vikings trading him next year it might take a 2nd rounder next year to get him...

10 runningbacks better than him are (in no paticular order):

    1. Ladanian Tomlinson

    2. Adrian Peterson

    3. Steven Jackson

    4. Larry Johnson (he had 1 bad year he's all KC's got of course he's going to have a bad year everyones after him)

    5. Fred Taylor

    6. Willie Parker

    7. Ronnie Brown

    8. Chester Taylor

    9. Brian Westbrook

    10. Deuce Mcallister

    11. Maurice Jones Drew

    12. Marshawn Lynch

wait a second that's more than 10 my bad guess that just shows you how easy it is to get a runningback there are just to many good ones.... If I actually wanted to try and think of more RBs I can probably think of 5 more backs better than Barber...

I guarentee you a rookie this year will come out amaze ppl and there will be another name or 2 to on the list of runningbacks better than Barber

I don't think Barber is worth 60 mil... Yet... He will be after this year though. Keep him where hes at... He will do great now that we have Felix.

any running back who can go for 50 yards and not get a touchdown is never worth 60mil.... Really no running backs are worth that unless they are the top 3 and Steven Jackson becomes a free agent after this year... I think he's better than Barber and it'll be almost impossible for Barber to prove he's worth 60mil because it's not hard at all to get a good RB.

Barber is not worth 60 mil, IMHO he should have been glad he was offered 30+, I kind of thing that might be a streach.  Guys we have way to many FA comeing up at the end of the year to even fathom giving a good not great running back that kind of money.  Anyone thing that if Barber would have been on another team he would have ever made the Probowl, I doubt it seriuosly.

I don't think we should trade for anybody, but I'm with you - I don't think Barber is worth 60 MIL.  First of all, he's good, but there are several other RBs out there that are just as good or better making less money.  I think it's a matter of greed, and it really makes me angry.  I know I could never do that job, but come ON....$60MIL???  I don't know a single person in my life that will EVER make that much.

Obviously, not just the average Joe could play NFL football.  But when you're asking for $60MIL, you're just greedy and you've stopped playing for love of the game.  A couple mil should be sufficienct for anybody.

And before I get blasted, I think EVERY player in the NFL is overpaid.  Even our Cowboys.  I guess its our own fault (the fans) b/c we pay $150 each to go see games from the nosebleeds and spend $75 on one jersey, but....meh.  Can I just go sit on the bench for a year???  Angel

I might go as far as adding most pro athletes in at least the major sports are way overpaid. Greed itself is undoing a whole lot more than merely sports though. Ofcourse I don't need to tell anyone with even slightly open eyes.

Felix and Tashard are to Barber as Jenkins and Scandrick are to Newman.

No one, outiside of quarterback, is worth $60 million under the current salary cap.

You really think that Newman is going to be replaceable? I dunno... I bet it turns out like the Flozell Adams situation did this year: If we'd had Scandrick and Jenkins (or in Flo's case, Free and Marten) for two seasons and they were going on three seasons, then I'd feel a BIT better about letting Newman go... But to let a Pro Bowl at one of the four cornerstone positions walk in favor of two second year guys? It's just too hard. Unless Pacman stays good next year and gets an extra chance tacked on by Goodell, and the two rookies look REALLY, REALLY good then I think we'd just be better off cutting Anthony Henry and using the little extra space to lock up Newman for an extension in the area of 3-4 years, 24- 33 million dollars (3 years, 25 million would be the optimal deal, but I doubt Newman would go for it, unfortunately.)

I'd rather Newman stay, but he's not as good as everyone here thinks he is.  He's fast and all, but now he's starting to suffer from the injury bug.  He'll be over 30 and will want a ridiculous amount of money.

I'm OK with Jenkins, Scandrick, and Pacman doing the nasty because if we spend the extra money on keeping D-Ware, the pass rush will be good enough to make the secondary look better than they are, and with that lineup, they'd still be a bad mofo...pending the young guys (Spencer, Carpenter, Burnett, Scandrick, Jenkins, Brown, and Ball) all progress in line with the level of their talent and ability.

This team, like every other team in the NFL, is a bad-offseason away from the first pick in the following draft.  And like everyother team in the NFL, they are a good offseason away from being a legit Superbowl contender.  We've had a few good offseasons in a row now, and it shows.  No one is worth the kind of money I'm assuming Newman will want to finish his career, especially considering the stupid contracts guys who don't deserve to sniff Newman's jock strap are getting.

Overpaid compared to whom?   Compared to most of us? Definitely.   But compared to what the OWNERS make, the players are not at all overcompensated IMHO!

The owners make many, many millions of dollars just because they had enough money to buy a team.....the players are the only reason that the owners make any money at all, and therefore certainly deserve their fair share of the profits!

If not for the NFLPA and similar groups the players would make next to nothing while the already mega-rich owners pocketed the lion's share of the profits generated!

The fact is that if every fan of Tony Romo gave him just a few bucks per game he'd be making even more than he is making now!  To put it in easily understandable terms......assume that Tony has only one million fans and they each gave him $5 per game....that's 80 MILLION BUCKS per (regular)season!   Obviously Tony has a lot more than one million fans, so he actually makes probably no more than a few CENTS per game per fan!

SO the point could be made that HE, and a lot of other star players are actually underpaid!!   Wink

With regards to T-New.....I really HOPE that he will be willing to work with JJ on his new contract!

Her recently said that because of his good investments he still had pretty much every dime he's ever made in the NFL!

His agent isn't Drew Rosenhaus I hope????   Surprise
