Eugene "The Hitting Machine" Lockhart was All-Pro in 89 and 90 but did not make it to the Pro Bowl, he played in the terrible years of 84-90.
Doug Cosbie played from 79-88, made the Pro Bowl from 83-85.
Tom Rafferty played from 76-89, made the cowboys all time team.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned these players?

Scott Laidlaw an unheralded back who had some good games for us. Rodrico Barnes, a LB with some ability who, if memory serves, got the handoff on a kickoff reverse in one of our super bowls. Ron Burton, another LB who delivered some vicious hits, but got sent to the Cardinals.

Yeah I miss the hitting machine as well, seemed like in our worst years he made nearly every tackle didn't/doesn't he hold some sort of single season tackle record for dallas?

Did no one remember "The OTHER Pearson"? Preston Pearson may have only been a relief back for Dorsett, but the he ran like a man on a mission when given the chance. Always thought he and Drew were related...I think many people did.
I remember. I was glad to see his name on the original post in this thread. After the Super Bowl XII victory, Roger Staubach called Preston Pearson "the key to our season." He was (is?) the only person to play for three SB champs, the Colts, Steelers, and Cowboys. He played basketball (!) at the University of Illinois and once blocked a sky hook from Lew Alcindor, who, of course, became Kareem Abdul Jabar. If you can ever get your hands on a copy, read his book "Hearing the Noise."
As for other "forgotten" Cowboys, two of my favorites growing up were Golden Richards and Butch Johnson. It's hard to come up with forgotten Cowboys, though, isn't it?
The Ring of Honor is great, but put his name where it belongs - on the OUTSIDE of the stadium.

Re: Forgotten Cowboys you loved
It's kind of hard to forget Butch Johnson. He was a lot like Alvin Harper, didn't get a lot of catches, but seemed to make them very flashy. Of course, the reason I remember him is because of the California Quake.
