Re: Forgotten Cowboys you loved
A few of mine, Jim Jeffcoat...James Washington. James Washington should have been the MVP of SB 28. 1 INT, 1 fumble forced, 1 fumble recovered, 1 TD While playing for the Cowboys, Washington was briefly the subject of notoriety for his part in an on-field fight during halftime at a November 7, 1994, game against the New York Giants in Dallas. The player grabbed the camera and monopod of Dallas Morning News photographer David Leeson in an attempt to defend teammate Alvin Harper. Although Washington did not strike anyone with the equipment, he was fined for his actions, as were Michael Irvin, Cowboys assistant coach Hubbard Alexander, and Giants players Tito Wooten and Jarvis Williams. The event was so memorable to local sports journalists that they not only included it in a year-end roundup, but were still writing about it two years later. "There were a lot of Giants, and I didn't see any of my teammates,"
Washington said at the time. "I just felt me and Michael were being
rushed, and I wanted to keep them off Michael. It was foolish. I didn't
hit anybody with it, but there was really no reason for it."
"All right now, I'm comin' out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna kill him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife. All his friends. Burn his damn house down."

BigDFan:Lance Alworth, George Andrie, Bennie Barnes, Marv Bateman, Bob Breunig, Duane Carrell, Mike Clark, Frank Clark, Jim Cooper, Doug Dennison, Steve DeOssie, Pat Donovan, Michael Downs, John Dutton, Dave Edwards, Ron Fellows, John Fitzgerald, Toni Fritsch, Jean Fugett, Kevin Gogan, Efren Herrera, Chad Hennings, Thrill Hill, Randy Hughes, Jim Jensen, Aaron Kyle, Scott Laidlaw, Burton Lawless, Tony Liscio, Obert Logan, Dave Manders, Mike Montgomery, Ralph Neeley, John Niland, Pettis Norman, Blaine Nye, Billy Parks, Tom Rafferty, Mike Renfro, Lance Rentzel, Golden Richards, Mike Saxon, Victor Scott, Ron Sellers, Raphael Septien, Dave Stalls, Ike Thomas, Dennis Thurman, Willie Townes, Billy Truax, Danny Villanueva, Ron Widby
Lance Alworth? The guy's in the college AND pro football HOF. It's kind of hard to call him forgotten, although many people forget he got his only SB ring with the Cowboys. However, you could say the same thing about Mike Ditka. Nobody's forgotten him, but a lot of people forget his only win as a player in a SB was with the Cowboys. Because of the legal problems, I think Lance Rentzel is deliberately left out of most Cowboys conversations. His scandal would be front page even today, and that's saying something.
Cornell Green was a great player that's seldom mentioned anymore. Agree with you on Pettis Norman. How about Mike Gaechter? Strong safety from 1962 to 1968. Good player, but was overshadowed by Renfro, who was great.

"Obert Logan"?? Man, how far back do you go? I thought I was old, but Logan predates even my fan-hood!

True, and sadly, the same could be said of Rafael Septien.
