Which player do you hope gets a long-term deal next?
The Cowboys locked up Terence Newman and Marion Barber with new contracts before Tuesday's deadline to sign players under the current collective bargaining agreement.
Which player would you like to see sign a long-term deal next? Ken Hamlin, who has yet to sign his franchise tender? Chris Canty, who has yet to sign his restricted tender? DeMarcus Ware, whose contract doesn't expire until after the 2009 season?

Ken Hamlin, we have time to get Ware signed later and we need Hamlinleading our young guys in the secondary. Hamlin proved his value last season and we need to lock him up first, then Canty, followed by Ware.

Totally agree! T.O. should be one following that suite since his contract expires next year, but Mr. J. has it all figured out. The "Original 81" has it coming.

I think Hamlin is important but not the most important as to the overall productivity of the Cowboys as a unit. I say get TO signed to a deal that will show him our appreciation and also motivate him to continue his productivity. I would say Columbo after that so we can maintain continuity with our offensive line and then Hamlin. We need to sign Canty but I think he is further down in the pecking order than these 3 mentioned.
Next year is obvious - WARE #1 PRIORITY!!!

As I said previously, Hamlin should be the next player to be locked in for a while followed by T.O., Canty, and then Ware, because he does have another year. However, it will probably do Ware more good to get his deal signed sooner than later, because the CAB and cap free year does him no good since the owners opted out. I pray Mr. Jones has it under control, but we need the players cooperation also.

Ken Hamlin needs his deal done ASAP. He is a strong player and needs to stay around his teammates before looking elsewhere. They really need to sign them all before we win the super bowl this year and they demand bigger bucks afterwards.

Again what kinda question is this? Sign em all Owens, Hamlin, Ware. C'mon come up with a more contriversial question. These are just reachin? Ask if Kelly Roland jinxed Roy Williams or if Carrie Underwood or Jessica Simpson Jinxed poor Romo.

Kenny Hamlin is next, he will get a Jacques Reeves kind of contract and I think Canty will get a Jay Ratliff kind of contract.

Either Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, or Aquan Boldin. No seriously I hope they can lock up TO because we all know how this passing game goes to hell when he doesn't play. I have a sneaking suspicion that JJ will make a move before the start of trainning camp. Hamlin also needs to be signed.

Re: Which player do you hope gets a long-term deal next?
Demarcus Ware for sure. He is possibly the most talented player in the NFL at his position, not only can he rush the QB, he is an all out force, he can stop the run, he is great at getting tackles behind the line of scrimmage, he can drop into coverage and is fast enough and smart enough to actually do something in coverage. He is way better then most of the one dimensional pass rushers this league has to offer. He is big, strong, and versatile. Merriman has nothing on this guy, it's sad that so called fans on this site were grumbling over us passing on him for Ware. I have not seen someone as good as him in years. I know we have time to get a deal done, but he cannot slip away, he is the next great of the game on D. I hear a lot of talk about people wanting us to sign Hamlin long term. I like Jones approach so far, yes Hamlin played well last year, but he had a lot to prove. This was a Safety who was burnt badly and had a bad year in Seattle the year before. I want to see him get it done for 2 years, not just one. I was pleasantly surprised by him last year, this year will decide if he is worth big money. We have a chance at having the best Secondary in the NFL. Just think, an area that was or worst last year, is now possibly our best. Super Bowl ladies and gentlemen!

Toss up: Owens or Ware... we absolutely live or die by Owens... who is going to take his place? Crayton? No.
Ware is a must have at all cost. He is a motor that doesnt quit. He is quiet too... not a flashy dancer... nor does he hit the steroids counter in the drug store! So, the fact we drafted Ware over Merriman... thats just dang smart.

Dont forget merrimans steroid use... so, after he came back from his suspension... he did not seem the same old lights out... where as, Ware is all natural, and will be great for years to come without the juice... like Merriman!

Re: Which player do you hope gets a long-term deal next?
I would have to place Ken Hamlin at the top of that list. He's shown he can get the job done out there, and has the leadership skills our defense needs.
Plus Ware there is plenty of time to lock him up to another long term deal, and as for T.O I don't think it is necessary to lock him up long term since he is like 34 or 35 I believe by the time the season starts.
