    Cowboy1963:

here's how we split the time.  trade ellis to Miami for Taylor.  straight up, even steven, one for one.  don't have to worry about "practice."  it'll be like the new guy battling for the spot and the young guy doing the same.  if there's crying  over "practice" let it be in Miami.  I just like this idea too much.  See his moves, one of the elite pass rushers, also did he share of knocking down passes, even interceptions.  and the dude can "dance."  Can ellis foxtrot? no but he can cry, and over "practice" at that.  make the trade.

Ellis may cry but can taylor play 3-4...hmmmmm not sure and he was about 10 pounds lighter than Ellis (before danceing without stars)Ellis not a full year and 12.5 sacks......taylor 11 sacks in how many games....if Ellis can give us a full year opposite Ware than i see big numbers from both of them...we dont need a transition year of less from taylor...good idea but give it up..........better off with a wr idea....nothing personal Cowboy1963....just my opinion (which could be wrong)...lol

true, but you just gotta feel that vibe...it's as if it's destiny....man...just look around the cowboys; first there's T.O. problem child from Philly (just got his "pay day"), Tank and Pacman.  disgruntled JJ leaves and in comes FJ.  Roy changes his number and hopefully his performance, can't help but think this will be is resurrection year; his big comeback, and yes Jason Taylor, How ironic that the first winner of the dancing stars was none other than who...you say who...now is that coincidence.  it's as if the planets are alligning and continents are shifting.  Man just feel the excitement.  you know what I've been thinking about the pass few days....19-0  yeah baby.....it's got that feelin'  we go for Taylor and he's got to prove somethin' just like everyone else.  Man, it's so exciting that I can't wait for the season to start.

Yeah Glimmer Parcells' would not give us Taylor...NO WAY...NO HOW!!!!It would be nice, but he talking hollywood...brigth lights, shiny stars....His minds not on football,at least not a 100% on it....We wouldn't do it anyway...Ellis will play and start, just rotate as the "game" requires...What's best for the team...and the game in hand...

I don't know I guess I would let whom ever had the hot hand play, to me its hard to set Ellis after last years performance, maybe they should invest in a muzzle....lol

my thought is rotational series kinda like the RB position of the past few years ,  who ever is hotter / better gets the most snaps ,  and throw in the switch to change things up.....  otherwise i dunno just let the beasts loose on the QB's

How in the world do you sit a guy that had 12.5 sacks - its his job to lose.

in all reality your not sitting him for very long times a few series a game , should create more productivity from him , fresher leg's....

There are those of us who believe Spence will outplay him soon.   And Ellis can't cover and Spence can.
OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

Anthony Spencer should be used to give Greg a breather when he's tired.

Or vice versa.  Really depends on who does the most for the team.  I don't care who gets most of the snaps.  Spence has been called a more athletic Sean Phillips.  If he is really that good, he will be better than Ellis.  But it still comes down to who outplays the other.

You want to hear a scary stat - after Ware and Ellis the guy with the most sacks is Canty with 3.5 - that is not good, that means if Ellis or Ware isn't getting to the QB then hardly no one is - do you really think Spencer can get the sacks that Ellis can. If we ran the 4-3 D then yes Spencers athletic ability would probably start over Ellis but Wade runs the 3-4 so the OLBs are supposed to get the sacks and sacks arent easy to get in the NFL thats why players that get alot of sacks are at a premium. In this D you just dont sit 12.5 sacks.

Unless the guy behind him is even better.  And he might be.  We don't know yet.

And yes, I believe Spence can get the sacks that Ellis can. And Spence can cover better, as an added bonus, which would allow us to do more w/ the defense.

OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

Miami runs the 3-4 and Taylor plays the OLB position more often than not.  Taylor is better than Ellis.

Edit note:  Miami ran the 3-4 in 06 and the 4-3 in 07, and now they're back to the 3-4.  He had 13.5 sacks in 06 out of the 3-4.  He did drop back in coverage.  Don't know how much.  I believe I was wrong in saying he played the OLB spot, but he did cover at times.  And, he plays the DE position in the 3-4.  How about double digit sacks from that position?  Pick your poison.

OK, Ellis is a bit above average.
