Re: Official Adam Jones thread
Alot of rookie players get their first big contract and buy houses, cars, and pay off large debts for family members. After doing this, they spend money on themselves and wind up broke. It is good to help the family, but you gotta be smart about it. Does anyone know how much money, if any, Adam Jones gave to his family?

I've never seen anything that tallied what he gave his family, but he did make some charitable contributions (besides those made to strippers lol).
I would like to point out that we aren't talking about him blowing one or two million, which would be bad enough....but with his signing bonus and salary we are talking about more like $18-20 million bucks that he's blown in just a couple of years! (his original contract was $30 million/5 years but had a big signing bonus so he got considerably more than half of that amount before he was suspended)
Let's also not forget thought that after he was suspended he signed a deal with the TNA wrestling, and has his own record label....so it's not as if he hasn't made any money since he was suspended.....in fact he's probably made more money since he was suspended than most of us will make in the next 10-15 years!

Don't forget the friends who aren't friends who just hang out with you because you have money.

Re: Official Adam Jones thread
ive been waiting a long time to get on here, but ill start by saying adam jones is an absolute stud on the football field. Those who say he shouldn't be starting over Henry...im glad youll never be near attaining a coaching position for the cowboys on any level. henry is a good player, yes he was leading the league with interceptions before he went down for the 20th year in a row with injuries, but lets be honest, im taking pacman all day everyday on the other side of tnew. how long is that excuse going to be used by the way. i can just hear the announcers now, "henrys on burress and is guaranteed to shut him down because he leads the league in interceptions." since when does having the best stats automatically make you, hands down, the better cornerback? but i do love the idea of Henry covering the tight ends. Jones will be giving eli nightmares every time he steps on that field. Super bowl or not, Manning will always remember that game in Nov of 06 when Jones took him behind the titans bench and slapped the taste out of his mouth a few times over and basically willed the titans to an improbable victory. I cant wait to see the look on mannings face twice a year when he has to pass against Jones, priceless. I say jones will even be ready to go by the start of the season should he be reinstated, and will do a phenominal job.

I'm with you. Jones will be an absolute steal for what they got him for and he's an upgrade opposite Newman. Henry was very good, but they got younger, faster and more durable at the position and AH knows his time is almost up as a full time starter....
and welcome to the forums!

I think that Adam Jones is in a great postion, in lives with Cowboys now, and have Dieon as his mentor.
This is a dream come true for him, I don't think he will blow it, I think that he will break records
and shine like a star in the next couple of years.

Re: Official Adam Jones thread
I have not been an A Jones fan since the get go, however it may be possible that he is finding out that he can be a productive citizen while living on a reasonable salary not spending like a mad man. I certainly hope so. I still worry that he will revert to his old self. He really does have the talent to be a key player in this year's run for the trophy.

Re: Official Adam Jones thread
If he stays out of trouble, and Goodell let's him play, there's no doubt that he takes Henry job in week 1. jones is a top 10 talent and has only been away from the game for a year. And when you're that young, it doesn't take long to get your legs back under you. He's a shut down, man up corner who doesn't need help over the top. Guess what? So is Newman. Our safties should be able to roam free this year and blow people up.
Aikman's gonna throw, deep slant. Caught, 35. HARPER'S BREAK'N AWAAAYYY! HARPER'S GOT MIDFIELD! HARPER'S GOT THE 40, HARPER'S GOT THE 30, HARPER'S GOT THE 20, HARPER'S GOT THE 10.......
The sound of a dynasty beginning.

True that. I hope he'll be in football shape as early as possible

I just hope he proves me wrong and keeps his nose to the grindstone and actually plays well enough to win Comeback Player of the year for 2009.
