Who can afford to see a live game?
With the cost of season tickets in the thousands, and the right to purchase season tickets in the tens of thousands, football has become a rich man's game. I am a teacher for a living. I have been to one live game in my 41 years of living. And I am starting to resign myself to the fact that that game may have been the only one I will ever see.
How many live games have you been to?
Born with a blue star on my head.

Re: Who can afford to see a live game?
I went to my first Cowboys game last year. It was the loss to the freakin eagles(the jessica simpson game). I have been a Cowboys fan since I was about 6 yrs old and I wanted to see a game in Texas Stadium before it was gone. I put my name on the waiting list for season tickets in the new stadium, buy I didnt anticipate them being as expensive as they are.
My heroes have always been Cowboys .... and they still are it seems

Maybe 12 or so ! Went more as a teenager, than as an adult. I have taken my kids to a few, though. I live about 3hrs. out of Dallas but I work on the road alot, so its hard to make plans to actually go. I am planning to go this year, though !! Last season at Texas Stadium !!! I might have to rob my kids piggy-bank to do it though !!!
DOMINATE IN 08 !!!!!!
Go 'Boys !!!!
PS. Giants Suck !!!

Re: Who can afford to see a live game?
I've been to 10, starting back in '66 when my dad took me. 4 in Texas Stadium during the early 80's and early 90's. Last one i went to was the Carolina game this past year. Before that it was 1994 (in Jan) i think, in Atlanta. I can afford the games i can drive to, but as for going back to Texas to see a home game, those days are gone.

Cowboys at Giants, 7 times.(Triplets 4 of those times)
Cowboys at Philly, 5 times.(Triplets 2 of those times)
I also was at the NFC Championship game in Phill, vs. TB. The last game at the Vet.
And first game at the Linc. TB. Mon nite.
I saw The Greatest Show on Turf, at the Vet in 2000.
My friends Dad has season tickets to the Eagles, and hates cold and night games.

Re: Who can afford to see a live game?
Big_D:I normally go to the Dallas / Giants game at the meadowlands every year. Haven't missed a game since 90. Then I'll make the occasional road trip. Been to Texas twice, Buffalo, SD, Philly, Washington, NO, Baltimore and Tennessee! This year if all goes according to plan, we're heading to St. Louis?
Non Cowboy games.. Tampa Bay for the Ravens / Giants Super Bowl. And Pitt last year for the Ravens MNF. My friends a die hard Steelers fan and we drove out for his birthday!
I don't know how people can afford full season tix these days. even individual games on occasion are getting out of control. I'll have to stick with Sunday ticket until I hit the lottery!!! lol
This "people" can't afford it any more. Live games are getting to be more and more rich folks only. Us poor working stiffs will just have to cough it up for the big screen.

Blame it on the gas prices. That really is what drives this nation, gas prices that is.

I grew up right across the state line in Louisiana. My father was a huge Cowboy fan who'd been to two home games before I was a twinkle in his eye. Today, however, My husband and I live too far away (Wisconsin) to make it worthwhile for us to even try to buy season tickets. Although we've been fans forever and went on an off-season tour of the stadium, neither of us have ever gone to see a live Cowboys game. We usually get Sunday Ticket via satellite so we can watch the Boys on TV.
However, I surprised my husband for our 17th wedding anniversary by buying tickets to this year's Thanksgiving Day game. With this being their last year at Texas Stadium...the history...the tradition...I decided this year was a must.
Maybe we'll go to a game at the new stadium in another 17 years. LOL

I have only been to one before. Cowboys @ Chiefs in the mid to late eighties (I don't remember the exact year). Herschel Walker was a beast then. I am going to the Cin @ Dal game this year. I have to see a game in Texas Stadium before it's gone. I live in SW Kansas so it's kind of hard to make it to any games because of distance. Denver is the closest NFL venue and it's about 4 - 5 hours away.
Yeah, it's a pain in the rear...living so far from America's Team. I'm surrounded by Vikings, Packers, and Bears...all 2 to 6 hours away. I thought about trying to get tickets to the Packers vs Dallas game this year, but when you gotta buy tickets for a family of 3 and the minimum price is $256 per ticket for the cheapest nosebleed seats available...it ain't gonna happen. I'd rather visit family "back home" and put the $ toward tickets for a game at Texas Stadium...even if it means traveling across the country to do it. Should be worth it at least once in my lifetime. :)
