    Kung Fu Panda

Well, today I had the idea to take our almost-2-year-old son (pictured in the avatar) to see Kung Fu Panda.  It was great to not have to leave him with a grandparent or put him to sleep at the movie.  I was a bit skeptical since Dreamworks can sometimes be the "dirtier" kid movies with a bit more suggestive humor than Disney/Pixar flicks intended to draw an adolescent audience.

This movie was flat out funny.  No, it wasn't as good as kid movies like Toy Story or Finding Nemo but it did well on its own and had an uplifting message while still being funny without resorting to a bunch of cheap laughs and crude jokes.  I was impressed with the sight gags as well as the one-liners.  While this movie isn't going to win any Academy Awards it still wasn't a bad way to spend an early afternoon with the family.  I actually went to see it with my wife, our 15-year-old, our almost-2-year-old, my older sister and her three kids.  The only person who said they didn't like it was my almost-11-year-old nephew (who is in the phase of not liking "baby" things and doesn't realize how babyish the things he likes are anyway).

I wouldn't recommend going to see it with the guys or on a date (unless your significant other has younger kids) or anything, but I say if you have kids and are looking for an easy way to keep them entertained for a few hours go check this flick out.  I was never disappointed and I don't think you will be either.  See if you recognize any of the celebrity voices before the credits and be sure to stay till after the credits for a hidden scene.

Nicholas (the toddler pictured in the avatar) has been a fan of turtle characters ever since he first saw Finding Nemo so he loved the master.  He also liked Po because he's also into bears (Pooh was the first character he was a fan of).  I really liked this flick.  It's a big change from hearing Jack Black spout every curse word in the English language like in some of the other flicks I've seen him in.

I didn't think I was going to like it, but I did.  I'm not a big Jack Black fan.  He seems to be the same guy in every movie that he's in except for King Kong.

I enjoyed the movie a lot.  There was a part that made me laugh so hard that I couldn't stop laughing for a while.  My wife had to elbow me to get me to stop.  BTW, kids loved it too.
