    Anyone remember Tony Banks, lol!

He didnt even make it through the workouts.

I do remember that!! I remember too, that somehow Madden didn't update their game and he was still the starter if you bought Madden ?? Whatever version it was.

I had to beat a friend of mine with Banks as the starter, LMAO.

    Lol, that's hilarious!
I never played that version of Madden, but I do own a football card of Tony Banks in a Cowboys uniform, lol.

HAHA, him as the starter sure made it an interesting game. I still remember I beat him on the last play of the game. HAHA...He still wants a rematch.

You do? HA! Must be a traning camp shot huh?

I was lucky/smart enough to collect cards right around the 89-95ish time frame. I have a bunch of Emmitt, Troy, and Irvin cards. I even attented a card show and paid for Emmitt to sign a rookie card.

Yeah, it is a training camp shot.

I collected cards also, mainly from 1990-1998, but I still buy some occasionally, here and there.  In 2001, I believe it was, I bought a pack of cards, and to my surprise, was a Tony Banks card with him in a Cowboys uniform.  I had already known that he tried out, and was already gone from the team by then, but in that moment, I realised it was going to be a long few years for Dallas fans, lol.

Good job getting the Emmitt autograph!  I own one too, but it was by pure luck.  I have never actually met him before.

This is the first thread for me to post on, by the way.  I joined last year, but I just have never got around to posting anything, so I am still learning the ropes.

Welcome to the boards. You pull an Emmitt autograph from a pack? I've pulled a few autographs from packs but never anyone of 'A' quality.

Yeah. I got one out of a pack of "Cowboybilia" cards that came out in 1996.  There were only 500 signed Emmitt cards, and I have number 27/500.  I feel pretty lucky to have gotten it, because it was the only pack I ever bought. They were 15 bucks a pack, and I was just a kid with very little money, lol.

But yeah, I have been a Dallas fan for a long time.  I actually went down to Texas Stadium a couple weeks ago to take my first stadium tour.  Okay, just one real quick question, if you dont mind. I edited my profile so I could recieve emails when I get a response, but I am getting sent 5 emails, instead of one.  What did I do wrong, and how can I change it? Thanks.

That's a pretty lucky pull, 27 of 500, that thing might be worth a little bit. But if you're like me it doesn't matter because they aren't going anywhere. My 9 year old asks me all the time when he'll 'get' all my old cards. No time soon is usually my reply.

Receive emails when you get a response in a thread? I don't have mine set to do that, so it may be that it is sending one every single time??

Yeah, its worth more than any other card I have, but I'm like you, I dont plan on selling it, or any other of my Dallas cards anytime....ever! lol

I think I will just change my profile to not send me emails.  I will just check this forum more often.YesCool

    Good idea.

I apparently as a kid bought cards from a local stop-n-go back in like '86. I guess I was 11.

I would only look for Cowboy players, the rest of the cards I would throw in a shoebox. Years later when I knew more about the hobby and started buying cards again, 89/90 ish, I found those and went through them.

I found a Jerry Rice rookie card in those cards on non-Cowboys.

My Cowboy collection is still my most prized though.

    Burn it.

     He's a complete British cigarette.

I actually have a WLAF card of Kevin Sweeney.

HAHA, I'll hafta hold some kinda ceremony.

Here's my BOTTOM 10 Cowboys QBs of all-time:

    10) Quincy Carter -- had a few flashes of being pretty good, but mostly blew it in the end

    9) Drew Bledsoe -- not as bad as everyone remembers, but had a knack for hitting opposing DBs right in the numbers at crucial times

    8) Steve Pelluer -- wow, did this guy stink.  I think he's most famous for getting blasted by Wilbur Marshall

    7) Gary Hogeboom -- why did Landry like this guy?  He was one reason (there were many) for the 80s decline

    6) Ryan Leaf -- ARGH!  He was just bad and lost every game as a Cowboy

    5) Babe Laufenberg -- great knack for hitting WRs right in the feet.  For some reason people loved that Redskin

    4) Clint Longley -- okay, I'm biased but anyone who dares to challenge THE Roger Staubach deserves our contempt

    3) Kevin Sweeney -- dear God, why did everyone insist that he start?  I know 1988 was bad, but come on!

    2) Vinny Testaverde -- Thanks Parcells.  No wonder you're a "genius".  Testaverde wasn't worth anything when he was young, let alone when he was in his 20th year.  While I loved his touchdown pass to Issiac Holt in 1990 I hated his ability to fumble WITHOUT BEING HIT in a loss to the Steelers.

    1) Chad Hutchinson -- I hear he drops his groceries at the supermarket when an old lady accidentally touches him.  Why in the world did anyone like this guy?  Everytime he was hit I flat out KNEW he was going to fumble again.

Gotta show some love for my man, Sweeney!

Sweeney was a holdover from the '87 strike team.  He was OK against strike opponents, but maybe a little short to face regular NFL opposition.

Still, Landry was trying every option to win a game in 1988, so I wouldn't be too hard on Sweeney
