    eBay rant

Ok, so I don't buy or sell anything from outside the US borders.  Too many delays and too many packages damaged.  Pretty much the same with APO's.  I don't buy anything from anyone under 100 positive feedbacks with anything less than about a 95% pos score.  I don't buy from business' when a bid ends on the weekends.  Don't hear anything until Monday.  I'll shop around from a personal seller instead if it's a weekend.

but...my biggest pet peeve is not communicating with me.  I friggen' hate that!!!  I have bought and sold over 600 items and only have a couple of neg feedbacks (both were sellers getting back at me).  Anyway, I just bought a nice gaming keyboard from a seller with over 17000 pos feedbacks.  I haven't recieved any communication from them at all in about 5 business days.  So I go back to the auction and guess what?  Right there in they're auction it lists this, "Due to high volume of emails, we no longer respond to any emails."  "Please call for inquires."   I have purchased many items from power sellers with way more pos feedbacks than 17000 and they have been fast with communication.  I will wait a couple of days and then I'll (god forbid) pick up the phone.  I mean, come on, I'd rather type an email or send a text.  Pick up the phone, geez what is this the 1990's?Big Smile

I admit that I am a communication nerd when I sell anything.  I have just never seen that.  My keyboard will probably be here today but I just want to be loved by the seller a little bit...

I agree...I am also big on communication.  I have dealt with sellers in the past who lacked communication and for whatever reason decided not to send the item (whether they forgot or what I don't know) which forces me to make a claim through paypal.  Of course, I try to communicate with the person and provide them with ample amount of time and opportunity to correct the matter, but when they lack the ability to communicate, it usually is a recipe for disaster.  They're more than willing to take your money but they can't even take the time to shoot a quick e mail to provide you with a status on your item.  That gets on my nerves as well and I have been burned by those types of people more often than I'd like to admit.  I suppose any common e bay member possibly has run into one of those type of lazy sellers who lack communication skills...probably more often than they'd like to admit, otherwise it wouldn't be the complete e bay experience.  If they haven't run into a seller like that...they're bound to at some point, unfortunately.

I've always stressed that communication is extremely important when processing transactions.  A simple e mail can save a lot of stress and heartache, provided the mentality is there to utilize communication as a method and means.  Some just do not understand that...why those people even bother selling/buying on ebay, I'll never know.

I agree about communication too. Last month I bought 2 dvd's from a seller. I was out of town for two weeks so I did not know that they had not arrived yet. When I got back, I emailed the seller and got "Oh, one of the dvds was out of stock so I was waiting to send them both at the same time." I can kinda understand that, but at least let me know that my items will be sent a month late.

I usually pay by instant transfer or credit card, never echeck. So one other thing that I don't understand is sellers who receive your payment the day the auction ends (what I usually try to do) and not send the item for a week.

Sorry, been burned a few times on eBay. I realize that most sellers are honest, but there are quite a few who are not. Once again, sorry, I just couldn't resist!Angel

Cheetos you are shopping at ebay not Nordstrom.  You get what you pay for.  I know I know, you want more for what you pay.  It's ebay, an adventure.

I've bought and sold quite a few things myself on ebay, and it's generally worked well (I totally agree that some sellers don't communicate well at all).  Ebay did change a rule a few weeks ago that I thought was a great idea -- now it's not an option for sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers, which is a rule that should have been put in place a long time ago.  If you're selling something, and the buyer pays for it instantly, they shouldn't be able to hold the buyer hostage on that feedback system.  Thanks for the rule change ebay.

I disagree with the feedback thing. I think sellers should be able to leave negative feedback if the seller never pays. :/ I'm kinda in that situation right now. A buyer hasn't paid in 2 weeks. What do I do? Leave positive feedback saying: "NO PAYMENT NO COMMUNICATION?" Nah. I'd like to let the world know, but leaving positive when I loose money isn't worth it. So, I will just with hold it. :X

That's why you can report them as a 'non paying bidder'.  Should be in the 'sellers' help page on how to do this.

    Re: eBay rant

I got burned on some soccer jerseys one time. Lesson is - don't buy sh** from Asia. At least not on Ebay.

I was looking into selling some stuff on Ebay. Some books, few random things, etc. Things of little value to me that I might as well get paid for getting rid of. Any tips? My problem is that I have no sense of shipping costs. I always feel like somehow I'm going to get charged for $20 for shipping some little thing across the country. Does that happen?

Still waiting to see any sports team I'm a fan of win a championship. Still waiting. STILL WAITING.

Just look at similiar items and see what they are charging.  If it's of a 'standard' size, USPS has a cost calculator. During your listing phase on ebay, they also have a wieght calculator.  I did sell some golf clubs about two months ago and I got a message (from ebay)during my listing phase saying to check other listings because they thought my shipping charge was too high.  I always us USPS Priority with Del Confirmation.  Keeps it simple for me.
