    Website question

Hi- I am not sure if this is the right place for this question because it has to do with the main website, but I thought I would give it a shot.

For some reason, when I open the website for dallascowboys.com, it is old data...from April, sometimes I get early May if I am lucky. Other people open the website and have a totally different home page that what I am showing.  Do you know why this would happen? I am not computer savvy at all....so sorry if this is inappropriate, but I thought I would run this by the experts. Big Smile

Sometimes if I just type in "dallascowboys.com" rather than www.dallascowboys.com - the page is different....not sure why that would be, but that's what I've noticed.

12/7/07: engaged in Columbus, OH after almost 5 years together!

    12/9/07: DALLAS @ Detroit > W 28-27 > we were there (see pic)

8/30/08: OUR WEDDING DAY, Terre Haute, IN (colors: navy/ silver // reception entrance: FOX NFL theme - nope, not kidding!)

    Re: Website question

It's difficult to guess exactly what it may be without being able to see for myself, but this sounds like a caching issue with your computer.

You always want to make sure that your browser settings are set to automatically check for newer versions of stored pages, and that your cache, temp files, and cookies are cleaned out daily.

If you have done these things, and are still coming up with saved pages from April, it may be time to break down and talk to a computer tech if you are not real experienced. The problem at that point could very well be hardware, or something corrupted with your OS and/or browser software.

I hope this helps you :)

Thank you.  I have tried what you recommended above.  I guess it is time to call the IT squad.

Dang. I hate to hear of you having to do that.

If that is the only problem you are having, I would try everything I could think of before spending money, or even try living with it, but that's just me. If it's causing other problems, and/or happening on other sites, your system could become unstable which was why I suggested the tech.

If you are not having any other issues, or this issue on other sites, have you tried adding DallasCowboys.com to your favorites (bookmarking it), or making a shortcut of it on your desktop? Either of these may possibly bypass the problem. You could also try using a different browser, such as Firefox, or IE 7. These would be band-aids. Not real cures, but at least you wouldn't have to spend money.

    Re: Website question

It's not so much a cache issue at it is the fact that they most likely have the web page on 2 different servers and only 1 is being updated and the other is not redirecting or re-syncing from the one that is updated on a consistent basis (www.dallascowboys.com) to the other.  This is the same issue we used to have at work because we have 2 different web servers.

New season, new players, new result!

Well I thought of that, but it doesn't explain why is no-one else having this problem on this scale.

We have always had minor update differences from one server to the other with these current servers, but the main site not updating since April ?

    Re: Website question

I just did a test and both pages were the same.  So it very well could be a cache issue.  Strange.  Could also be one of the settings in the browser.  Default is to refresh to the newest page but maybe his is not like that.  Not sure.

It's either your cable connection or spyware is nesting on your computer.  You may want to try spybot or adaware first.  Maybe even do a complete re-install of windows.

Whatever browser your using you may want to try and up your cache memory, I use to have the same thing happen to me on my old Mac.
