Zach Thomas was a free agency steal,
Thomas is a small LB for a 4/3 defense (5' 11", 228) on a team that plays a 3/4.  He will get swallowed up.  We have secondary personell bigger than he is.  And he is suppose to man the interior on a 3/4 defense?  Zach sees spot duty at best.

He played Middle LB in the Phins defense, and they ran a Whole lotta 3-4

Zach will impress all of us just wait untill you see him play.He was good on a bad defense

i'm not sure What planet you think I've been on But the Phins defense has been 1 of the best up until last year!  You act like Zach Thomas is this well Kept secret only you know about?????  Of Course I know who and how good he is????

BUT................... what he has done, has been great, but the fact is concussions and LBs don't mix. I'm confident he will be a playmaker and game changer IF he's on the field.....but that's still a big IF!  You don't play through concussions......and No Matter how good you are.....how much heart you have.......that injury can end his career.  Especially in the position he plays.

Yea that defense is great full of hall of famers.Well 1 and we have him

yeah Jason Taylor is chopped Liver!  and Only 2 seasons removed from being the NFL's Defensive player of the year!

How many HOFers were on the Cowboys Defense of 92-93????

It doesn't take away from the fact the D was tremendous.....does it?

Back to the Dolphins....in 2006 they had the #4 defense in the NFL(#5 vs pass #8 vs the run)

    in 2004 they had the #8 Defense/ and in 2003 they were #10/ in 2002 they were #3 /2001 they were #5/ 2000 they were #6/ 1999 they were #5/ 1998 they were #3

so in the last 10 years they have had a top 10 ranked defense every year except...2007 1997 and 2005.......and what were you saying about HOFers????

My point......their defense has been Great for sometime and a Healthy Zach was a BIG reason, but I aint sure he's 100% Healthy?  He won't know how his concussions are until full contact or another car accident??   If he is healthy we got a steal, if he aint.....i believe this injury will force him to retire.(see Dan Morgan)

Our FA LB you seem to think of as a sure thing is as big of a Question Mark as the FA CB we brought in.  Pacman missed a season due to behavior, Zach missed a season due to injuries, and I'm not banking he will be able to finish or even play this season.  Concussions make QBs retire!  So how can That be a good injury to have when you are a LB?  A position where he is suppose to hit SOMETHING, EVERY play.

Then you rank RB ahead of CB because we picked up a FA that may not play and 2 rookies......yet the 2 guys backing up MBIII have yet to have 1 NFL carry?????

Zach Thomas was averaging 155 tackles a season for the last six seasons before he got injured. One concussion is not going to stop him from getting, at least, 100 tackles this season (something Akin failed to do during his stay here).

Also, I ranked runningback ahead of cornerback because F. Jones and Choice will most likely have an immediate impact on this offense. It usually takes longer for corners to get adjusted to the NFL. I know Felix will, at least, see the field. Can you say the same for Pacman or Jenkins?

    Re: Most improved position

I can almost guarantee PacMan Jones or Michael Jenkins, whichever one is the #3, will see the field quite a bit.  Reason #1 is Anthony Henry gets hurt a lot and may actually lose the #2 spot at some point to either guy.  Reason #2 is offenses go 3 wide a lot(I believe we ran the nickel 65% of the time last year) so the #3 corner is practically a starter anyways.

CB hands down. It went from a glaring weakness to a team strength. What a difference 4 months makes?? After that, I'd say the return game got a huge lift as well..

Think you are right. But after a few games we may love our return guys.Just a feeling there

Yeah, the return game should rock.Punts, kickoffs and INT returns. Should be good for maybe another 10 TD's on the year.

Hudson Houck should be a serious upgrade for our O-line too. If he can work his magic like he did here in the '90's the O should roll over a lot of folks.

I don't think that's the right sports metaphor for what you want the Cowboys to do.  Stick out tongue

You're right. I want them to shoot a three pointer and then tackle the shortstop in the process while taking the puck to the house.

It hurt my eyes AND my mind just reading that. Tongue Tied

Heck, at least one will probably see the field a lot just due to the fact that so many teams like to "spread it out". If you throw injuries in, both probably will. Hopefully Jenkins and/or Scandrick can adjust as fast as Aaron Ross seemed to. That kid looked pretty good for a rook.

well, we had 2 good corners last year, but our nickle corner kept that bunch from being good. but im going to say running back. i hope the barber/f. jones attack is such a success.

That's not how I meant it. I know Pacman or Jenkins will see the field as the 3rd CB, but we don't know which one it will be. With Felix, you already know his role on this offense. He's going to be the change of pace back that will keep defenses tired.

Things are more certain at runningback.

I think either CB is an improvement over last years And I think our situation at Rb will be better as well.
