I saw Randy Rhoads about 2 weeks before he died.  What an excptional talent.  I loved the guy  I didn't even buy any more Ozzy records.  I know about Jake and i know about Zack and they are very excellent, they just weren't Randy.  Oh, I'm not that good, i just love to play and have  for 30 years.

I watched Ozzy at the "No More Tours" tour in 1992.....at that time I had every Ozzy solo album he had put out.    I never bought another after that Tour!   I guess you could say that I took him at his word (even though he kept right on touring)!    Wink

Zack Wylde is a hell of a guitarist but my taste is for more progressive guitar styles....his seems more like a retro-heavy sometimes almost southern rock style of guitar.

Randy was a stud....even his outtakes were bad ass!

GP, i saw Robin Trower about a year ago at the House of Blues, he was outstanding. Stood right in front of him.  He played a lot of old stuff, like Daydream, Hanna, he opened with Twice Removed from Yesterday, he played Day of the Eagle, I can't wait much longer,a bunch of them,  and i've seen every Utube clip. I'm a big fan.

well my hubby still has and plays his "epi" that he proudly bought at the age of 12 in gasp 1969 i think. it was brand new and to him it still is brand new. He likes it better than the Martin 12 or gibson 6. funny thing is, he still takes them with us on vacations. not because he wants to play but because the house could burn or be broke into. no wonder he doesn't like to fly. the thought of leaving his guitars litterally makes him sick. of coarse all the jewelery, silver, photos, art, etc etc etc, stays behind.

That's not a bad idea!   In July of 2000 someone broke into my house and stole my $1,600 Jackson Fusion XL Pro series guitar!

I had a black lab at the time, but she was too friendly with strangers......luckily my lab/wolf hybrids seem to keep people at bay a little better now (not because they are mean or anything, but just because they look more intimidating)!

I've got about half my acre+ yard, and my old carport, fenced in and the dogs mostly stay in the carport near the front door, so you can't get into the house now without going through the dog pen, which no-one has tried without me being there......now pretty much all I have to worry about is a fire, or possible a tornado or something.    Big Smile

Lol if it does, I'm the biggest rockstar on this board.  I was off work for a month looking for a job when I moved back to my hometown, and I played that game for hours on end.  I love it!!!

Just for the record......playing Guitar Hero is to guitar what playing Madden on the Playstation is too playing football.   Stick out tongue

No kidding.  I've played guitar for about 15 years, and I suck at Guitar Hero.

I only played GH once.   I bought it for my nephew for Christmas in '06 and jammed to a few songs....it really wasn't my cup of tea.

I suppose that it could help a child learn a few things about timing, especially when it comes to basic strumming, but it's almost useless with regards to actually learning anything about actually playing guitar.

Personally, I've never liked playing other people's stuff anyway, so right off the bat I knew it would not interest me.  For me the allure of guitar is all about creation, not imitation.    Cool

dmsday11, you are a lucky guy to have seen Randy play, your right Jake E. Lee and Zack Wylde are great guitarist, but even they coudn't touch Rhoads.

QB 09 2 81, I remember reading in a magazine when the No Rest for the Wicked album came out him saying it was his last album/tour, but every album and tour turned into his last since then. I got almost every Ozzy album, but unfortunately I still think his 80s stuff is far superior.
