WOW! Thanks a lot, Cowpolk. This gives me 2 recipes and I'll also use your first one with strawberries for a 3rd, and then the peaches for the 4th! Like I said, I owe you one. My printer is out of ink so I'm gonna go into hibernation and write all this down. Thanks again.

I can't offer any recipes, but I'm willing to help out by being a taste tester if you'd like... except for that habanero stuff.  No thanks!

Ok Cowpolk...........Where did you get that recipe? Tell the truth.         I have my 3 granddaughters here and they love it. Great texture, creamy, the right sweetness........it is perfect! This is gonna be a winner and I can't wait to watch all the people go crazy over it. I am planning on trying out the chocolate recipe tomorrow, it will have to be really good to top this one. I didn't use any salt, but I did add a little allspice and some cream cheese. I would never have thought cream cheese would be good in icecream. Tell the truth, where'd you get it. My mother would like to know. She is 70 years old and is famous for her cooking. Says it's the best she ever had.

From my grandmother.I used to crank my arms off to make that stuff. The cream cheese is a modification by me. Makes it taste kinda like cheese cake ya think? And sometimes I add ginger when i'm pureen the peaches or a couple of handfulls of ginger snaps crumbled up to it towards the end of the freezing cycle

Fess up Grizz.  We all know you have a sweet tooth and needed a fix.  What better way than to post asking for an ice cream recipe for your granddaughters eh?  It's the perfect plan.  No one can resist a nice story about you wanting to do something special for granddaughters but we all know the motive was to fulfill your passion for ice cream!

BY THE WAY, ANYBODY GOT ANY GOOD CAKE OR COOKIE RECIPES? My granddaughters love that stuff!

    Re: Homemade Icecream

Ok guys............the chocolate icecream, the strawberry, and the peach was devoured quickly, the blueberry moved a little slower, but I win the contest. No prizes awarded, but I own the bragging rights. Several people asked for recipes and I told them as little as possible........lol j/k. The kids loved the chocolate and strawberry, the old people, like myself, loved the peach. I think the only reason the blueberry was finished off was because we ran out of the other. The other family's icecream was good, but it was the old fashioned simple recipe with fruit added to it. Thanks again, Cowpolk. You have helped me make my son proud......lol.

Yeah, but you'll still be able drink cold beer.  It's like all those tv adds for medication, "Some might experience headaches, ED, foot aches, nose bleeds, back aches, in grown toe nails, rectal bleeding, penile discharge, sudden loss of feeling in the right eye, sudden loss of feeling in your left buttock, the sudden suggestion that Brittany Spears can actually sing, that Donovan McDumb will not get hurt this year, that Bill Bellycheat will actually win w/o cheating..."

LOL.......I have been drinking my beer at room temperature for years. I probably wouldn't like it cold now.

    Re: Homemade Icecream

These are some pretty good comments on homemade ice cream. When I was kid, my family would make it once or twice a year in the summer with about a 2 or 3 gallon tub with the hand crank on it. I don't remember the ingredients but you had to put it all in the tub and hand crank it for about 3 hours or so. Maybe a little longer but with all the ice in it. it was easy at first but after a couple hours, your arm was sore, you would give slap out and it got so much tougher to crank. My dad had to take over cause he was the only one strong enough to turn the crank. He'd call me and and brother wimps, and told us to get the hell outa here and finally finish it up. But after all that, it was worth it cause it was the best tasting ice cream. I think now days it is an electric ice cream maker that does it for you. I'm curious Grizzly, what kind of machine do you use to make it. We had the old type and it was so long ago. I wouldn't attempt to make it now cause I know what kind of effeort it takes but I do know it is the best tasting ice cream you can ever have. So how do you do it. I'm not up to date on making it anymore.

The old hand cranks make the ice cream with the best consistency. It just freezes it better......but I use the lazy man's electric ice cream maker. Down thru the years I have had several machines and I saved the metal cannisters, so when I am making 3 or 4 batches all I have to do is move the motor to the next batch. These "machines" only cost around $25.00 so if you eat a lot of ice cream they are worth the money.
