I hear two retards saying:  "You are" back and forth.  Both are good, but overrated.

OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

Funny.  All I heard from Laker's fans was excuses.  I was watching one of the games and pointed out how when Kobe "took over", the rest of the team just started standing around.  All I heard back was denials and excuses.  Bryant shot 37.6% through the first five games.  All I saw was him taking jump shots.  And Laker's fans wonder why LA didn't go to the line much.

Also, time after time I saw the Celts blow through the Lakers defense, especially in crunch time.  I didn't watch all of the series, but a few times I saw players drive right by Kobe.  Where is the defensive team dude that everyone is lauding?

Answer:  Kobe does not belong on the all NBA defensive team.  Yes, he can play great defense.  No, he doesn't even come close to playing defense on any kind of consistent basis.  Which is what it takes to be the best.

When things got tough, the Lakers reverted back to Kobe ball.  That's when the series was over.

OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

I think Kobe is the best overall player in the NBA, Duncan is right there at #2 (nothing against Pierce, we finally got to see what he could do with help). But Shaq is a just being himself, a goofy giant who's as blunt as they get. And Pierce outplayed Kobe in these last playoffs so just how good is Paul Pierce?

I concur, Kobe's defense isn't that good. I think it's funny how Shaq is making fun of him. Until Kobe wins one he better get used to this every year. Just like until the Cowboys win some playoff games we better get used to the doubters.

Dang, Presto, that kinda cotradicts itself.  Maybe you're trying to say that Kobe is the most physically talented.  He is.  But, does it necessarily follow that he's the best?  Look at our own Cowboys for an example.  Marcus  Spears is more physically talented than Ratliff.  But, is he better?

I have three problems w/ calling Kobe the best:

    1.  His defense is spotty.  Great at times, nonexistent other times.

    2.  Why is the best player in the NBA taking so many 18 foot jump shots and shooting 36 %?  The "best" player would have taken over the game.

    3.  Although he has improved in this area, Kobe still doesn't make the players around him better as much as he should/could.

And, of course the talent around him is a factor.  Pierce is on a much better team than Kobe.  And, here's the biggie, the Celts play great defense.  The Lakers play ole' defense, to a large extent.  I saw lots of capes waving as the opponent went by.

OK, Ellis is a bit above average.

Man, Shaq's rapping was one of the most inane, incredibly ridiculous things I've ever heard.  Kobe shouldn't even be bothered, as it was too stupid to even be considered as offensive.  The whole thing is like watching two third graders flicking boogers on each other.

Kobe is the best individual player in the NBA with now I think Pierce being a close second Kobe is a great defender but team D is team D this whole Shaq rap can be taken either that Shaq still has *** with Kobe or that like Shaq said he was just messing around like he always does

Kobe didn't attack the way he does in some games, that's what I liked about Pierce, he attacked and got to the line.

It is easy to spot a disgruntled spurned fan, Ks,   It is the overwhelming majority opinion that Kobe is the best on the planet.  Do you listen to the experts like Tim Duncan or Greggggg Popoffit, they even think Kobe is the best.  I'm gonna give credence to a players opinion before I contemplate anything said by a disgruntled spurned fan.  We all know Shaq was watching the finals, hoping that Kobe wouldn't win it without him.  So to hear the man joke about it and then act like WTF is odd, to say the least.  IMO  Kobe will get one without Shaq.
