Which of you really thought ...
... that we'd get everyone signed? Remember just a few months back, when the topic wasn't which of our major assets would have to be let go to make cap room, but how many? Sure, we haven't signed all our rookies yet, but is there any doubt that we will? I mean, we signed them all - owens, barber, newman, hamlin, flo ... that's amazing. Jerry Jones is the man, and everyone who agreed to contract restructuring to make it happen - WELL DONE!! What a team spirit we have here!
=I'm giddy. I loved last season, there were lots of truly great football games we played. We played at a high level except for the last few games. It seems we now have top-notch players at almost every position, and top notch back-up in several key positions - game breakers capable of making big plays on every down, offense and defense. Our current team is as solid as any team I've ever seen in 40+ years of watching football. Getcha popcorn ready, because this team has the solid potential for being one of the greatest seasons in Dallas Cowboy history.

Yep, its awesome that we got our star signed to long-term deals. But there will always be something to complain about. can't wait till preseason when people freak out if we lose one game. remember we only went 2-2 last preseason.

When I was little my mom always said if the cowboys sucked it up in pre season they would have a damn good year... I dunno if that was necessarily true since I didn't pay too much attention to preaseason back then. She could have just been making me feel better if we lost against the raiders in a preseason game back in the 90s tho :P Not sure if it was the raiders.... I think so... did we play them in the preseason in the... late 90s?

Not only did we resign most of the guys we needed to resign, but we've actually got MORE cap space than we did before some of the big signings!
Awesome!

My dad used to say that, too. I think preseason is a VERY rough indicator. First two games mean very little, and for the last two games, it depends on how seriously the other team takes it. Some coaches actually game plan, while others play their base offense and defense to work out kinks. I use these clues to evaluate:
If the team runs a trick play in preseason, it's taking it way too seriously. If a team plays starters for most of the game, it means nada, especially running backs. The 90s Cowboys did NOT play Emmitt much at all in preseason. If the backups that are going to get cut anyway get beat, means nada. If starters are getting beat, not good. If starters are getting beaten by backups, way bad. If your starters are beating their starters, good. If your starters are beating their backups, means nada.
Hey, can anybody else think of preseason clues that tell us something?

Or when Hamlin gives up his first TD.
Aikman's gonna throw, deep slant. Caught, 35. HARPER'S BREAK'N AWAAAYYY! HARPER'S GOT MIDFIELD! HARPER'S GOT THE 40, HARPER'S GOT THE 30, HARPER'S GOT THE 20, HARPER'S GOT THE 10.......
The sound of a dynasty beginning.

Re: Which of you really thought ...
I love this post .Count me in as one that said we would get ALL our players signed.I knew all along it would happen. I never gave a 2nd thought to salary cap space. If Jerry wanted to keep a player, he would sign him. Alot of people said we wouldn't sign Neuman, and Barber wanted 60 million and Hamlin is crazy for not signing his tender and missing the OTAs. I saw all the negatives that people wrote about these players wanting a huge pay rasise and ain't worth it and we don't have the money to afford them and on and on and on. Little is said about Stephen Jones but he is the brainstorm that works the contracts for the players. This same situation will come up next year when player contracts are up and it will be the same ole story. The Cowboys will make offers to these players and they will hold out for the big pay raise and a player or 2 will miss the OTAs and the fans will go nuts and bash them until they get signed. I will say right now, they will get signed if Jerry wants them. Signing our players are the least of my worries. Somebody tell me, when have we not signed a player because he wanted too much money. It may be a last minute thing or a deadline issue but he will sign and all will be forgiven once again.

Re: Which of you really thought ...
Yeah Richard, that was in 95 when we won our 2nd SB against Buffalo Norton was already going to the 9ers even when we played that SB. We had just won back to back SBs and after the game players were on the sidelines standing 3 back to back to back and in the post game interview, somebody said, I think it was Michael Irvin, not sure but somebody said we would do it again next year and go back to back to back and be the 1st team to win 3 in a row and Ken Norton came over smiling and said no next year the 49ers would win the SB. He was right but nobody wanted to hear that. He was already a 49er even though he just won the SB as a Cowboy. Strange how that happened but Jimmy Johnson had something to do with that. I don't know that it was a money issue. Maybe it was. If so, then you are right.

IDK, i think preseason is a good time to run a trick play or two. gives u a look at if it's gonna work or not against another team and doesn't really matter much if it fails
