Gotta keep preseason exciting somehow? except for die-hard fans, no one wants to watch 2nd/3rd/4th stringers who won't make the team play. you gotta dazzle the crowd a bit with a shotgun double reverse, chicken wing, fake flea flicker, draw up the middle into a real flea flicker 99 yard TD bomb. Luckily we have the o-line to get it done.

The things to watch for in preseason are the position battles and the play of the base defense/offense. Last year when we were still a bit under the radar you might recall John Lynch accusing us of game planning for the Denver presaeson game. Wade Phillips remarked during the regular season that he then knew how special of a team he had on his hands when an opposing team's players thought we were game planning when in fact we were just that overly dominant. Additionally, watching Bigg Davis dominate in pass protection was a prelude of things to come. That's one of the things I'll be looking for this preseason, the run blocking by our offensive line, tank johson at nose tackle, and separation by the wideouts.

I like watching the third stringers get in.  Sure, it's not as good as real football, but it is kinda nice to try and figure out which ones might be having an impact somewhere in a few years.  I knew way back when that Romo was better than Henson.  I just never knew how much better.

I'd like to thank Starbuck for the avatar and the sig...

Anthony Spencer should start next year because Greg Ellis is Average at best!

Re: Trick plays. Although I don't think you should worry too much about making another team mad, most teams think trick plays are bad form in preseason. If it's a silly play you'd never run in regular season, no big deal. If you're putting a halfback option in, I'm not sure you want other teams to get film on it before you have to.

... that we'd get everyone signed?  Remember just a few months back, when the topic wasn't which of our major assets would have to be let go to make cap room, but how many? Sure, we haven't signed all our rookies yet, but is there any doubt that we will?  I mean, we signed them all - owens, barber, newman, hamlin, flo ... that's amazing. Jerry Jones is the man, and everyone who agreed to contract restructuring to make it happen - WELL DONE!!  What a team spirit we have here!

=I'm giddy.  I loved last season, there were lots of truly great football games we played. We played at a high level except for the last few games.  It seems we now have top-notch players at almost every position, and top notch back-up in several key positions - game breakers capable of making big plays on every down, offense and defense. Our current team is as solid as any team I've ever seen in 40+ years of watching football.  Getcha popcorn ready, because this team has the solid potential for being one of the greatest seasons in Dallas Cowboy history.

Somebody tell me, when have we not signed a player because he wanted too much money. It may be a last minute thing or a deadline issue but he will sign and all will be forgiven once again.

The last one I can remember is Ken Norton.

Alvin Harper hurt the most. Brock Marion. Robert Jones. Darren Smith. Kevin Williams. Russel Maryland. Larry Brown. Dixon Edwards.

We were stripped of alot players back in the dynasty years. And we've pretty much sucked since then. So no one really wanted our players.

    Aikman's gonna throw, deep slant. Caught, 35. HARPER'S BREAK'N AWAAAYYY! HARPER'S GOT MIDFIELD! HARPER'S GOT THE 40, HARPER'S GOT THE 30, HARPER'S GOT THE 20, HARPER'S GOT THE 10.......

The sound of a dynasty beginning.

True. Harper wasn't a great receiver, but he was a very good #2, and man, that ONE reception against the 49ers, closest I ever came to having a heart attack. THAT was probably my favorite Cowboys game EVER!
