How do y'all feel about an 8 team playoff?  Is this a better idea than the plus one format?  Personally, I like it better because it's hard for any team ranked lower than 8 to legitimately say they should contend for the championship.  Plus, playoffs are the best way to prove who's better.  Everyone would have loved to see USC, UGA, LSU, and Mizzu duke it out.  Thoughts?

Definitely a better idea than the present system. This is the only sport that does not have a playoff and that sucks. I would have loved to see USC and LSU play this year. And Mizzou should have had a chance to play in a BCS game. They were too good to leave out.

I think an eight-team playoff would be a great idea. A playoff is long overdue.

The Football Bowl Subdivision (aka Division I football) is the "only Division I NCAA-sponsored sport without an organized tournament to determine its champion" ( I stole that from Wikipedia).

That's just ridiculous. If the Football Championship Subdivision (aka Division I-AA), Division II and Division III programs can do it, why not the big boys?

I'm sure it's because the NCAA doesn't want to lose all that corporate cash they get from bowl sponsorships.

Why not just make the bowl games the playoff games?

As an example, they could use the Fiesta Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, the Gator Bowl and the Sun Bowl for the four quarterfinal games.

Then the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl could be the two semifinal games, and then use the Rose Bowl as the championship game.

The whole process they use now (the BCS) just sucks. It's too subjective.

How many seasons are we going to have to endure and how many post season comments about a play off system are going to have to be made before the NCAA finally organizes it.
