Dallas Cowboys Talk With Miami About Marion Barber Trade

According to the Landry hat, there was some talking going on at the combine.

NFL Network reported during the combines today that the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys are discussing a trade for the top pick. It was reported Dallas is considering trading Marion Barber and three picks for that top pick, which is going to be for Darren McFadden.

McFadden’s stock went through the roof today after he ran a 40 sprint time of 4.27, the fastest of the combines.

If this trade happens, there will be a horde of Cowboys fans that will go berserk. I am one of them. This trade really makes no sense because any dumb bell could see that the Cowboys need a ton of help in the secondary. That is the team’s most-pressing need. How the Cowboys address it is going to be incredibly huge for the future success of this football team. Seeking solutions in later rounds isn’t going to cut it. We cannot play a game of craps shoots with the secondary anymore!

Then, there is an aging wide receiver corps. Miles Austin and Sam Hurd aren’t going to be stars in this league. The Cowboys need to find a replacement for Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens.

Marshal Faulk and Rich Eisen couldn’t stop talking about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys giving the Arkansas running back such a strong look. Reportedly, Jones left after McFadden ran the 4.27.
For the life of me I cannot figure out why the Cowboys are even considering this trade. The biggest problem I have with McFadden is he is top heavy. He’s got chicken legs. I could tackle him by his chicken legs.

Then you look at a running back like Jonathan Stewart’s lower body and his 230-pound frame. You wonder how the heck he ran a 4.44. I wouldn’t want to be in front of J.S. at full speed.

I will keep an eye on this development, but I knew the tardiness of signing Barber is a signal of bad news. And remember, you heard it here first.

    Here is the link.

    SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTT

This is the worst offseason since we had 0 1st round picks and took Quincy Carter in the 2nd round.

Who is going the top runningback we can get next year with the #26 pick in the draft?

Why not try to grab this guy? He's one of those players you hate to pass up if you can help it.

Yeah, that stuff was being reported and talked about on NFL Network yesterday (Sunday) morning.  It's already been discussed a few times on this forum.  So, it's just more news of the same type of rumors...  I can't wait for the draft just to get here already!

It states 3 picks along with Barber.  Using nothing more than a huge SWAG, we're most likely looking at:

    Barber
1st round pick this year (#22)
    2nd round pick this year
Conditional (2nd/3rd round pick next year)

This is the worst offseason since we had 0 1st round picks and took Quincy Carter in the 2nd round.

This won't happen!!! Barber and 3 picks??? Come on! Even Jerry won't pull the trigger on that. I think he's exploring his options and will find out that McFadden is just a little too far out of reach! Him running a 4.27 really helps the Dolphins and they'll be shopping that #1 looking for a better deal than dropping all the way down to the 22nd pick!

To add to this subject matter, I wanted to mention how I thought it was somewhat interesting how Adam Schefter was wording his sentences when talking about Barber and his contract.  "Attaining the rights" to Barber's contract instead of talking about the tender?  This opened the door for me to start imagining the various possibilities of how Bill and Jerry would get this deal done.

Imagine if the tender on MBIII not being used this year, but next year!  Say the Boys give-up the rights to Barber (with the trade contract stating that his tender will be in effect for the 2009 draft), the #22 pick, the #28 pick, a later round pick from this year and a 2nd round pick from next year.  In exchange the Boys would get the Dolphins #1 pick this year, and their 1st and 3rd round pick next year.

What would you guys think of that?

If JJ trades Barber, I'M DONE with the Cowboys!

I just don't see how the Dolphins have any interest in Barber....maybe Atlanta, possibly Oakland. Miami would have to move Brown for that to work, and he just ain't had the time to see. Brown will be one of those guys Parcells likes.

I second that. He pours his life into each and every run and I respect that very deeply.

No it isn't, Jerry just said that he isn't getting rid of Barber. If I were you, I would stop dreaming of Mcfadden with a star on his helmet. It'll cost way too much and Jerry knows that.
