Maybe we didn't need to take a wr
I want to see more of this Danny Amendola kid, ole JJ might have seen something in the guy and knew not to draft a wr knowing that no other team would take a chance on him. Guys we may something here.

Re: Maybe we didn't need to take a wr
The only thing I know about him is that he'll be lucky to make the team. He's an undrafted FA. Every other team saw him, too, and felt that there over 200 better prospects out there. He might take Austin's roster spot or maybe Terry Glenn's if he's not able to continue playing, but even IF he does make the team, he better be really good at covering kicks because that's the only way he's getting on the field.

Re: Maybe we didn't need to take a wr
We just need a receiver to challenge Austin and if that receiver is better then Austin is out. Glenn, TO, Crayton, and Hurd are our receivers for this year.
Next year will be about receivers and safeties.

The offseason aint over yet guys. For every draftie, there'll be a vet looking for work after June 1st. Anybody else notice that the Bengals took two? Hmmm.............

Aww Hell nah according to 75% of the posters we don't need a WR! and anyone we drafted wouldn't have a chance in hell of beating out either Stanbach,Hurd,or Austin........but a undrafted guy already has handed Austin his walking papers.......This is hilarious!

It's sad that the team will send a young guy with potential (Austin or Hurd) packing in favor of Terry Glenn who might have a year left in the tank IF he's lucky. Doesn't make sense!!!! Should've cut ties with Glenn this year and got younger. I could atleast understand if a young injury free WR takes one of their roster spots!

How much do you think Austin played WR? Lets do some research and we quickly find out he only caught 5 passes for 76 yards. He played in all 16 games and was used as a returner. Now that we drafted players who can return in the draft and also have aquired Pacman, he is no longer usefull. I mean you have to draft a guy to replace a player that only has caught 5 passes his whole carrer? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8021/career;_ylt=ArIaEOpbwgh3waTSHzUbD.X.uLYF

Re: Maybe we didn't need to take a wr
Nah I think if the kids makes the team it will be on the practice squad...the people talking are the 25 percent that actually think we needed a WR this year in a weak draft class with no real talent to take over a number 1 or 2 WR slot. We need 1 next year when the class is stronger and there are WRs that won't just ride a bench lost on the depth chart.
Redskins owner, George Preston Marshall, met the Dallas team with opposition. The owners bought "Hail to the Redskins" and refused to allow Marshall to play the song. Marshall changed his mind, and Dallas, was granted an NFL franchise on January 28, 1960.

Re: Maybe we didn't need to take a wr
I agree like everybody we need a WR but that position was not as critical as RB and CB. We had a shortage of them had to get some new players. We have an abundace of WRs and the need to stock the position is not there. The WR position in this draft was considered very weak. And alot of people asking well what if T.O. goes down. Well if he does, we just lost alot of passing game. Do you think some green rookie that barely knows our system is going to come in and save the day. We got backups that have been in our system that can come in and with more playing time could produce quite well. Nobody is gonna spell T.O. If he goes down, you don't replace him, So a rookie WR at this point would be more of a luxury than a necessity. We can get by and do well this season with what we have in WR. We couldn't do that with CB and RB. We had to get those guys. Next year may be a different story.

It took Romo three or four years to get on the field. Hurd and Austin took similar amounts of time. If this dude had the talent to get on the field this year, somebody probably would have drafted him. Maybe he'll be an exception to that, but if so, it will be just that, an exception, i.e. not normal or unusual or surprising.
I can very confidently assume that JJ and Wade Philips are not expecting any kind of major contribution from this kid this year. Anything he provides is gravy.
