I've been watching my Dallas Cowboy recorded shows and I'm hyped up!!!

I have about 8 hours of Dallas Cowboys shows recorded on my DVR.  I've been watching everything from Emmitt Smith and Michael Ervin HOF specials to the Dallas Cowboys SuperBowl victories against the Dolphins, the Bills and the Steelers to the Greatest Cowboy moments of all time (pre-92 season).

I'm hyped up.  It's awesome to watch these shows.  Just reminds me of how proud I am to be a Cowboy fan.  Makes me feel sorry for anyone who is not a Cowboy fan.  Their teams don't compare to the Cowboys.

Roger Staubach, Bullet Bob Hayes, Tony Dorsett, Randy White, H. Walker, Bill Bates, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, the Triplets ... the list is too big mention.

BRING ON THE '08 SEASON.  I'M READY AND SO IS MY POPCORN!!!

    HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!

Yeah, I got a bunch of old tapes too. I've got every Super Bowl tape from SB 16 and several Sports Illustrated tapes and some go back as far as the middle 70's. Lot of ass kickin goin on. The one that I watch the most and most requested by my friends when they come by is SB27. We kicked Buffalo's ass up and down, right and left, backwards and sideways coming and going, and those mf's didn't know what hit em from the 2nd quater on. The ole lady will go out to her mothers or something and a few friends will come over and we ll drink a little beer and watch some kickass football and get fired up. It makes you cramp up even more for the season to hurry up and get going again. I got to have a football fix now and then and these tapes help out alot.

My problem is that I have a Rubbermaid tote full of Cowboys VHS tapes and now I don't even own a VCR!! I've got several DVD's but there is some good stuff in that tote that I would love to have (and ultimately will have to repurchase, I'm sure) on DVD.

This will also be my first football season with my big screen HDTV. I'm so psyched!! Bring it on!!!

Yea, I know what you mean. I remember during those SB years - I would tape a game on sunday and then watch that game all week, I bet I watched more tape of the Boys than the coaches, lol. Ahhhh, those were the days.

I still do that on the TiVo! Drives my wife crazy! "How can you watch a game that you know the final score of? What's the point?" Haha. Bless her heart, the poor Vikings fan. It especially baffled her when I drove 13 hours on a Friday to watch the Saturday game at Carolina, then drove 13 hours back on Sunday and immediately went to the TV and watched the game. Haha!! I got lucky to marry a woman who loves football, but she is a fan. I am a fanatic.

Every game is like a good movie. Everytime you watch it, you notice stuff that you hadn't noticed before.

Why not just have the VHS tapes transferred to disc.  I had some old home movies from a super 8mm transferred and it worked great !!!  Good Luck !

It just doesn't get old.  Watching these games is over and over brings out all of the enjoyment of knowing how awesome our team is.  And to watch it again and again justifies our point of view.

I thought of that, but assumed that either I would have to buy some equipment to transfer, which I would also assume would not be cheap, or we would have to pay someone to do it, which couldn't be cheap, since there is so much of it. Also, I wondered about copyright issues. Anyway, I appreciate the thought. I will check into it at some point, How much did it cost to transfer your home movies?

I guess I'm just lucky, I happen to work at an office that just so happens to have the equipment to transfer from VHS to DVD.

I took my VHS tapes, the ones they put out after a team wins the SB. Like the season recap ones.

I have the '92, '93 and '95 Boys tapes transfered to DVD. Not sure what our office would actually charge to do that. I could find out. Or....Depending on how many you have....

William, I am doing my Karate Kid impression today - I am painting the fence. Stick out tongue However, once I am finished with that, I will delve into the tote and see what all I have. Yet another thing that baffles the wife - its like watching the TiVo'd games again, only to the extreme. Saving all of those old tapes. We were cleaning out some stuff this spring and she actually said I should just throw them all out, since we don't have a VCR anymore. Blasphemy!

    I'll be in touch. Thanks!

I'm not sure about the copyright laws, but I think as long as you don't make some sort of profit (i.e. sell them or charge your friends to see it at your home) you should be ok.  That's my understanding about the copyright laws.

That is my understanding, as well. I just wondered if a business which provides the service of copying would have any reservations about copying copyrighted material for a consumer.

Well, DVD's nowadays are CSR encrypted, so 'in theory' (heehee) you can't copy those. But if you 'own' the VHS and are only looking to make a personal copy, AND like mentioned above, not looking to make a fortune. You should be fine.

Yeah, let me know. PM/Email me.
