Opinion about the new forum relocation

Hey look, I'm starting a poll.  Something you can't do on the new fourms!  Anyway, for those of you that are still floating around the old site, I wanted to see what the main consensus is for our relocation.  It's pretty simple, you either are in favor of it or you aren't.  I'll give some 'median' answers for you guys that are inbetween:

    Who likes the new forum?

    • The old forum was junk, we needed new digs, I'm glad with the change! (6.5%)
    • I understand the need for upgraded software, I will miss the old site but will get use to the new one. (0%)
    • Couldn't they just have figured-out a way to update the old forum? (22.6%)
    • I don't like it, but I have no choice in the matter if I want to continue posting. (35.5%)
    • The new site blows, I'm going doing with this ship! (35.5%)
    • Total Votes: 31

I can not even get the new site to load today.  So much for improvement.

Give it some time guys.  With every first-issue, there are always bugs to work out, especially in newly written software code.  In millions and millions of lines of code, there will always be errors.  I can't even log in to the new site right now, and I'm a friggin moderator.  Be patient, and I know everyone will love the new site.  This one is crap...period.

Well, I understand the core issue of software updating, so once some user-friendliness is added to the new one (I hope) I can see more people coming around to the idea.  But for now, when considering all the issues like lack of advanced notice, left to figure things out for ourselves without instruction, transition a week before training camp, etc. - it does put a bad taste in our mouths!

Maybe from the back end it's crap, but it's a VERY useable forum for board members.  There were only a couple of things I'd want to tweak here, from an end user point of view.

Well, to be honest, i haven't seen any improvements at the new place that would make it any better than this one.  It's slower, it often logs you out, it has ads all over the place, it's hard to navigate, there is no private message system, words as innocuous as nude, poop, butt, etc. are on the censored list, the list goes on and on.  To me, it's a much bigger pile of crap than this one, and we wouldn't even be able to have this conversation on that board because crap is on the censored list too. :)

Yep they definately dumbed it down as far as what we can say.

The bugs I expect.   The whole forum being worse and the way it happened is not excusable.

BUTT!!!!!!!! There! I said it! Over on the board that shall not be named it wouldn't let me post the name of Skip Bayless' book, Hell Bent, because it had H-E-Double hockey sticks in it. I understand keeping it relatively clean, but COME ON!!!!

I miss the "active" threads section, where you could just look and see which topic from ANY forum was hot. Also, the "my disscussion section". Where you could simply and quickly look at most recent response to your last post.

The new site is a pain in the rear. Stupid ads all over. Looks cheesey as hell and has no character like this one did. No Ring of Honor. No "where your from" on the avatar.  And is all and all a big fat dissapointment.

But we have no choice. Being that is was force fed to us. So I guess I'll have to live with it. But I can already see my decrease in posts. Just to much to look at all at once.

Re: Opinion about the new forum relocation

I'm struggling with things as well guys/gals but Derek and staff are working with us to help incorporate a lot of your suggestions.  As Ben said, it's new software and there are things that need to be fixed, updated and added.  Please be patient.  I'm sure in time it'll be easy to use and a lot more user-friendly than this site.  As far as the coding goes for this site, it's crapola and can't really be fixed without a complete re-write.  I know what that's like because I used to do programming and have seen completely crap code.

Give Derek, his staff and the new forums a chance before you shut the door on the whole concept.  We all know and feel your frustrations.  We're Mods and are struggling so we know what it's like for you as well.

New season, new players, new result!

Thanks for that info. I'll lay off the griping, cause I know how hard it is to do something with somebody breathing down your neck. I'll try to be constructive in my suggestions.
